So I just read an article about a little boy who got strep throat that was very very hard for him to get rid of but even after that more symptoms appeared which consisted of Lyme disease and co infections. His story was like deja vu for me because a few years ago I got bit by a tick and my first symptom (which I didn't know at the time was strep throat) very very stubborn strep throat. I had for 3 to 4 months and even after they said that it was gone I still had symtoms. Couple years later now I'm very sick and diagnosed with Lyme disease. I read that he had pandas. I'm not familiar with pandas nor some of the co- infections that come with Lyme disease. My doc is treating me for Lyme and co infections. I don't even know what co infections I have but she wants to treat me for all because it's a possibility that I have all I guess. But can someone fill me in on pandas? Do you think I may have it? How does that effect treatment plus lyme & co infections? I just want to know if I'm going about treatment the right way?

Hi Traci -

Yes you are on the right track treating Lyme and coinfections.

Pandas is Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal infections.
PANS is Pediatric Acute Neuropsychiatric Syndrome.

Do you have the PANDAS/PANS symptoms? I believe it is diagnosed by symptoms - one being motor and/or verbal tics, OCD, ADHD...
It usually starts as a child (or infant) but I've read there can be adult onset as well.

We have a member here named Rowingmom whose daughter was treated for Lyme and Bartonella and she is now in remission.

Yes I have those symptoms. And I read it is more common with kids. I was 20 when this happened. I almost never get strep but every time I did amoxicillin knocked it out within 2 days. But after I got bit by the tick and I had strep throat they put me on probably 10 different antibiotics including amoxicillin and I never got better.

I edited my post not realizing you had posted.

Her daughter treated with abx for almost two years and at that point she switched to herbals for another year (or two?)and healed 100%
