I am a 63 year old female recently Dx'd via testing with Lyme from bite in May 2017-(saw bullseye under upper right arm )treated for 30 days with doxycycline from primary physician.Doctor didn't ask me to return and made it appear that the doxy was all I needed. Was feeling OK until 3 weeks ago. My thumb developed a trigger finger and my ligaments in my arms and upper shoulders, along back have painful snapping when I move or reach suddenly for something. I am feeling very tired with waves of anxiety, At night I feel painful pins and needles circling various areas of my body.Returned to primary doctor and these are the tests that were positive. Doctor stated I have no active infection. However, my body is certainly telling me the opposite. I am not understanding the positive results here as follows. Any information on where to go next would be deeply appreciated. I was s very healthy 63 year old up until recently. I take no prescription medications and have never smoked. I eat a clean whole food diet and take supplements. Was hoping to heal this in a more naural way as its obvious the antibiotic did not work. Please advise. I live in Levittown, Pa.

Someone should be along shortly to welcome you and point you in the right direction.

I wouldn't say antibiotics didn't work at all - did you see improvement while you were on them? The problem with Lyme and coinfections is that they are persistent and have ways of resisting antibiotics. So they may be effective, but they need to be in combination- I've taken 4 different abx now, up to 3 at a time.

However, there are herbal protocols if you don't want rx antibiotics. (Cowden, Buhner, etc). The recommendation will be to find an LLMD, ND, or herbalist who will help you through it.

Hi debbie, welcome!

Did you have those symptoms, and the antibiotics resolved them...and now they're back?

With a new infection, you should be treating until sign/symptom free plus a few more weeks.

30 days wasn't long enough.

Bands 23 and 39 are lyme specific.

But that doesn't show if you have active infection - your symptoms do.

The bands can continue to show after you're healed...but again, you have symptoms and need further treatment.

Well I am certainly glad that you have found us, there are many members that use herbal protocols and have had success. I started with ABX but am now on only Buhner Herbals.

Good resources are the books: "Healing Lyme" by Stephen Buhner 2nd edition, "unlocking Lyme" by Dr. William Rawls.

Healing Lyme and the co infections can take time. It is also important to build you own immune system up so it can help fight these infections.

Detoxing is also very important. You can find more information on all of this plus more on our "New to Lyme" start here thread at the top of the page.

Thank you.I would be interested indeed.
Have been doing the Buhner protocol for 2 weeks.Some days OK , almost as if this critter is leaving. Then the nights hit as it appears this monster comes out to feed on my ligaments and nervous system..Sounds crazy, I know..

PS After 39 years of backyard gardening on the same property, who would have thought I would finally get bitten by a deer tick?Although, in recent years the deer can be seen all over the place now in Levittown.

Hi you should remove/edit your email address from your post. Just so your not bothered by other people that are not members. Also its a good idea to have a new email that you just use for here.

Also for many of us the symptoms can increase at night , it figures when we are tired at the end of the day. Sometimes an Epsom salt bath can help to relax you at that time.
