Immune suppression and autoimmunity?

I'm trying to understand what Lyme does to the immune system. Confused about how it's possible to be immune suppressed and also have autoimmunity. I have Lyme disease and a low cd57 count but also have hashimotos. I've read the theories about how "the blebs" Ospa can mutate our b cells causing immune suppression. But there are a lot of people who have Lyme and autoimmune diseases. Is it possible that when the b cells mutate we somehow end up with confused antibodies that attack our bodies instead of the bacteria. I know I need to do more research to get a better understanding of how the immune system works but was hoping someone here might be able to clear some of this up and point me in the right direction as far as where to find more answers. Thanks!

And would having lyme and therefore a suppressed immune system cause the progression of an autoimmune disease slow down? Would the suppression include the part of our immune system that has gone rogue and attacking our tissues?

Its really confusing. And many times it seems immune suppression and autoimmune are thrown around together like they are similar.

I would really like to learn more about both and their relationship - very little anywhere on that.

My Hashi has always been very linear in its progression and I had lyme the whole time. Since it seems neither were officially Dx'd in the beginning, I dont know which came first. Was hashi from lyme, or did serious lyme symptoms progress because of a faulty immune system already malfunctioning (autoimmune hashi).
