Thank you all so so much for your advice!
My copy of Healing Lyme should arrive today. I already had astragalus root tincture made, so we're starting that as soon as I can figure the dose for a child.
I spoke to the urgent care office 2 days ago about
the red streak and they assumed it was staph - I don't know what it is / was, but it's going away with the rash. I had asked them for a longer course of abx than the 14 days. They didn't want to do it, but with the potential for the streak to be staph, they moved him to Augmentin for the 14 days and said I could do the last week (total 21 days) with amoxicillin. That's the current plan - 21 days with augmentin -> amox. And, following everything with at least astragalus tincture.
At this point, I have been hopeful that that's all we need. HOWEVER, I have a friend that has chronic lyme now and the more I learn, the more I fear not truly getting rid of it and seeing it come back 2 years later or something... I have not seen a LLMD for him. I also have many friends telling me that they (or their child) had the same bullseye and took 2 weeks of amoxicillin and have been totally fine.
We already have a very low sugar / processed diet. I am giving lots of gut support from probiotic pills, but also sauerkraut, kombucha, kefir, etc. So, I feel good about
his diet / general health other than this...
So, I don't know what is best... I'm doing 3 weeks abx, and planning to supplement with herbs and diet.
If you all have any additional recommendations or think I'm being naive to think we may not need to see the LLMD, please let me know. We are
open to going to a LLMD, but my friend told me that there isn't one in VA, that she has to travel to Rockville, MD (2.5 hours from me) and they don't accept insurance, but she's happy with the doc. That's fine with me if I need to do that! Just don't want to go and have the doc be like, "why are you here?... he's totally fine!"
Thanks!
