Trouble with Doxy now? And POTS?

Doxy -- I've been on doxy 100 mg twice a day for three weeks, trying to increase the morning dose to 200 mg but I keep getting sick. (I was on it before for 2 months with no problems.) Friday morning I tried to increase it. I quickly and suddenly felt faint and dizzy and nauseous, and then I threw up and then felt better. I skipped Friday night and Saturday morning and then took my usual 100 mg Saturday night. Within 5 minutes, I felt strange in the head again and my heart was racing. It finally went away, but now I am afraid to take doxy again. What is this? A side effect or a reaction?

Part 2 -- POTS question. I have been suddenly feeling dizzy and feeling like I could pass out randomly while standing or sitting. I'm OK when I get up, and it will hit me some random amount of time later. Sometimes it's just dizziness and it goes away. I've had my blood pressure taken while laying down, sitting, and standing up several times recently and nobody said anything was off. Is it possible for your body to adjust OK at first but then misfire later?

This doesn't sound like fun. And for me, this is how I ended up on herbs. Antibiotics made me sick and I never knew if I had the pill in me or not. I think some suggest eating a little before and after taking the pill. Sort of like sandwiching it between bites so it doesn't hit your stomach so hard.

I was the cracker queen. I did crackers and ginger drinks. Still could not keep it down. I really tried.

As for POTS, there are a lot of post regarding POTS. In the Search box under Forums & Chat, type this in -- Lyme POTS -- and see the posts regarding that.

I might end up on herbs too, but they scare me almost as much. People react to them too, or herx badly -- it's such a delicate balance, with possibly dire results from any mistake. I'm trying so hard to hold onto bits of my life, like my new teaching job, but I feel it slipping away.

I do sandwich the doxy. I kept it down last time, but the whole head thing is a scary feeling and I don't know if it's serious.

Yes, I did some reading about POTS but didn't find much on whether it can hit randomly like this.

DS had POTS type issues during the first months of treatment. Full time on doxy knocked him off his feet. Once he moved to Dr. J/DC's clinic and started pulsing, he tolerated treatment much more and while he had plenty of symptoms those first 6 months, it was only sometimes overwhelming not horrific like the first month with the pediatrician/full-time doxy. Also J Clinic switched him to mino which covered his Lyme and mycoplasma and he tolerated a bit better. At one point they asked him to take it daily but he failed at that so they pulled him back to pulsing. As a result, it is taking forever to get rid of myco but slow and steady has proved to work well for him!

Can you start pulsing instead?

yancync - I agree with the pulsing. I was on two antibiotics everyday...and I suffered more than I do now...and i'm now taking two antibiotics, Artemisinin PLUS the Mepron - but I'm pulsing.
Although my second week of the two weeks 'on' is 5 days in a row...but then I get two weeks off to recover.
