Hi! I was diagnosed with Lyme Disease in 2013. However, due to the fact that I was put on psych meds (Gabapentin, Zoplicone, Seroquel and Remeron) and have spent the past 3 years slowly tapering off these poisons, I have not been able 2 treat my Lyme Disease. As far as I know I don't have any co-infections. The w/d symptoms I am currently having are: chronic insomnia, burning, tingling, numbness, vibrations throughout body and head, adrenaline surges, myoclonic jerks, depersonalization/derealisation, burning brain etc.

What I am wondering is can Lyme Disease also cause the burning, tingling, numbness and vibrations throughout body and head? I am concerned about this due to what I am experiencing getting off the poisons as I am terrified I will have 2 suffer horrendously until I can treat the Lyme disease if indeed it can cause the above burning etc. I am assuming that once I have completed the horrendous w/d from the psych meds and the symptoms have either lessened or subsided and if indeed Lyme Disease can cause the burning etc. it won't b nearly as intense as it is now. Please respond as I am terrified I will have 2 live in this hell 4 at least another year. Thank you.

smartone - why can't you treat while on those meds?

You can slowly wean off later?

Those symptoms are typical lyme and co-infections.

What makes you think you don't have any co-infections? I'm thinking those symptoms could easily be Bartonella.

Most people who have lyme also have one or more co's.

Well, don't expect to get better in a few months...it can easily take a year...so you need to dig in for this fight.

Of the symptoms you mentioned - i have or had the following: Burning, tingling, numbness, vibrations, adrenaline surges (I think - I have these shivers in my body that are different than the vibrations), jerking of one leg.

i have bartonella and I believe at least a few of those symptoms are from it.

Yes ,your symptoms can be Lyme. Many here have had those same symptoms.

I would encourage you to find an Lyme literate Md(llmd) and speak to them about treatment for the Lyme.

ditto what girlie said about lyme and bart causing those symptoms. what you may find out is weaning off the gabapentin you may be far worse off than you think. you don't even have a baseline of what's an every day "feeling" for you yet. once you get off all of the meds and give yourself a few months not on anything then you'll know where you're at.

for me i'm on gabapentin 600mg 3x/day. it takes the edge off of my crazy nerve symptoms. if i wasn't taking this i would've put a gun to my head already so one man's poison is another man's pearl ;o)

Hi! I'm sorry! I have been totally off all my psych meds now for 4 1/2 months (Gabapentin - 2years off), (Zoplicone - 2 years off), (Seroquel - 11 months off) and (Remeron 4.5 months off). I have slow tapered these drugs over three years. The reason I'm haven't been treating the Lyme Disease is because I am going through such a horrendous protracted w/d from the drugs that I wouldn't be able 2 tolerate adding in herxing from the Lyme Disease also. My w/d symptoms r so intense at the moment. These psych drugs are horrendous and the w/d is extremely painful, terrifying and inhumane. I believe I am still in acute w/d from both the Remeron and Seroquel as these poisons remain in our systems 4 a very long time. I am just concerned that at the present time I am experiencing the burning, vibrations, insomnia etc. from both the Lyme Disease and the w/d.

got it smartone thanks for explaining. yeah sure sounds like a tick borne infection either lyme, bartonella or both. i can tell you gabapentin helped me with the nerve stuff it made it more tolerable. would going back on gabapentin be an option if you can't deal with the nerve pain?

no one and i mean no one knows how long it'll take to make progress on your symptoms let alone whether you can completely eradicate them, so its best to look into symptom management before you start treating.
