Swelling Feeling in Neck

So, when I first got sick a few months ago, I felt like I had a slightly swollen neck - but my neck wasn't swollen. Maybe just a little. It feels like something is crawling up my chin, or the back of my neck.

I get it every so often, and recently I have started to notice slightly swollen lymph nodes on my cheek/under my ears, etc. But I mean ever so slight; people don't notice unless I point it out to them.

I understand this might be Lyme, but it could also be something else. Has anyone else experienced this? It's not necessarily actual swelling, but a very slight feeling of it.

JITB - I have had swollen lymph nodes - but not in those areas. It couldn't be seen...only felt.

My first one was the left Clavicle lymph node. It was swollen and hard...and really hurt!

Then after treatment started, I got another one behind my right ear.

The one behind my ear appeared during lyme treatment and subsided within a month or two.

The Clavicle one was there prior to treatment and didn't go away until bart treatment.

I would say it's either Lyme and/or bart in your case.
Since they're not symptomatic all the time...it could be toxins are building up. Have you done any lymph massages?

I’ve felt like I’ve had a fat neck for a long time. Couldn’t tell if it was lymph nodes or thyroid. My lymph nodes usually ache in a characteristic way, and for that I do the massages from YouTube.

My TSH was high, despite naturopathic treatment, so I finally went on NP Thyroid. The fat neck feeling went away in a few days. Also regulated my monthly cycle, and there’s much less of my hair in the bathtub drain. So I’m a happy camper in the thyroid department.

I have tested negative for antibodies, so it’s not Hashimoto’s.

Still, all my docs look at my TSH (4.8- 5.2 in the last year) and say it’s no big deal, even though I’ve always been. 2.6 and I have family history of hypothyroid. Only my ND says it’s too high and cared to fix it. Solved a lot of problems. So second opinions and drs from 2 different schools of thought can be very useful.

Swollen/sore nodes are a really good sign that your lymphs aren't draining like they should or they are struggling to keep up with the level of toxins being filtered through the nodes, or your circulation is struggling.

There are so many causes it's tough to know exactly what the trigger is. We have over 700 lymph nodes in our bodies! Crazy.

Swollen and/or sore nodes can be from one of the tick infections, as discussed. When I started IV abx for bart I couldn't move my head or neck or get out of bed for a few days the sore nodes around my neck and at the base of my skull (cervical, occipital) were so swollen.

Or they can become swollen from another infection entirely - a couple weeks ago the nodes in my neck and groin became swollen and sore when I recently had Mycoplasma pneumonia.

They also become swollen in a few other places when I have a viral surge - under my chin, in front of my ear, clavicle, etc...

But the response can be helpful regardless of the cause. Red root helped me tremendously, so did gentle warm compresses. Many people do dry brushing or lymph massages - but be sure to look up methodology for how to do this online before you try it - it's not at all difficult but there are one or two hard rules about it.

Thanks for the responses, folks. I'm not on any particular detox effort, just eating healthy, taking some probiotics and drinking a lot of water, as well as light exercise. I'll probably incorporate some massages and more detox supplements.

BabsBunny - funny you mentioned thyroid. I hadn't thought about it, but my TSH is a little high and my FTI a little low - not enough to be considered abnormal by doctors and still within "range", but it's definitely lower than when I was healthier. I wonder if supplementing would make any difference.

I'm a little worried today because over the past 2 or 3 days, I've started to feel cold in my right hand and foot...when for the past couple months, only my left side has been bugging me. I don't know if this is just a new symptom popping up while on abx or if I should be worried. Strangely enough, my left side isn't cold....
