Girlie- his Dr needs to test FT3 and FT4, cant he ask for this? Or is Canadian national healthcare to strict?
I cheat the test. Everyone says to get thyroid tested in the AM before your meds. I go one step further:
When I'm on a dose I like, and suspect the test will look a little hyPER to the Dr (but not to me), I only take 1/2 dose the day before my AM blood draw LOL. This lowers my T3, not much change to T4 though (T4 is longer lasting). Pig thyroid always has a higher T3 that worries Drs and lowers TSH.
Yep, that's what I need to do for proper thyroid health......cheat testing.........unbelievable.
Since I have 20 years of Hashi experience, I can tell pretty close to what my results will be from symptoms/feel (for real), I can pull it off. Disclaimer: I'm not telling others to try this stunt, and I'm not the first one to do it either. Some Drs ask for the time of last dose........oh well.......if they wont treat me right, I'll do what I have to do.
Hubby just told me he skipped his meds the previous two days and didn't take his meds prior to testing the day of the test - to try and provoke a high TSH result.
So that may have caused it.
I guess he has to resort to that to get a bit higher dose.
He has had FT3 and FT4 tests done on occasion, but not every time.Well, I guess he thinks creatively too (outsmarting the Dr). Its harder to do that on only T4, since it stays in your body longer, but two skipping days..wow, and still not enough.
Remember he needs to add those two days of doses back in some where though.
In my post you quoted, I changed the word hypo to hyPER., ...."When I'm on a dose I like, and suspect the test will look a little hyPER to the Dr (but not to me)".....
