I see what your saying. Yes that was pretty funny. 2 chickens a day and the other healthy food would be quite the appetite!
The rice or bread meal of 2500 calories a day comparison is kind of extreme, as its not close to a balanced diet, are not "junk food" (staples actually), but people do survive on that in some places. Thats more malnourishment than just unhealthy.
In all fairness what your comparing healthy cost vs not healthy cost and what I'm comparing are not the same.
The bottom range of your comparison extends towards poverty level, not the typical American diet. Although American middle class (average) is getting towards the bottom more every decade, they typically can afford more than just rice and/or bread for meals. At least I hope so.
I used well known fast food "junk food" meals (typical non-poverty American food) as not healthy examples which still cost a lot more than a rice meal - and still more than my idea of a healthy meal made in my kitchen.
The price of fast food is rising too. There are still some Hardies burger joints around here (Carls in other parts). A meal there is $8-10 !!. Thats nuts. Maybe this trend will get people cooking more. Limited choices on the road though, glad I dont travel for work.
I think we've beat this subject to its pulp.
