I had a Western Blot Test done at Lab Corp in 2016 and it came back negative but showed IgM P23 Present Abnormal. At that time I believed that it was negative but after continuing to experience unexplainable health problems I started wondering if it still could be lyme so I redid the test last week at LabCorp. It came back negative again but this time with IgG 41 Present Abnormal. In 2014 I did find a tick on me that had been there at least 2 days before I noticed it. With my symptoms I am thinking about retesting with Igenex. I went on their website but am overwhelmed with all the different testing choices. What test should I start with?

Labcorp western blot is very unreliable, you definitely should use iGenex if you want to do testing.

But please know that even iGenex can be wrong. It's best to talk to an LLMD to see what symptoms you have and go from there.

When you order the iGenex test kit, you bring it to a doctor, who signs it, and you fill out the code.

Hello and welcome!

You can test for Lyme and co infections by many different labs. Igenex is a better one but even there, many inaccurate test results. Testing is very unreliable, as there are many different strains of the bacteria.

But if you do choose to test and get positive results, you will have an idea of what you are dealing with.

Are you working with a knowledgeable llmd? A good doctor will treat you on symptoms alone.

Welcome Anjne and so sorry you suspect lyme. Generally once we get down to thinking we have it, we probably do have it.

I tested negative with Quest Lab. I was not CDC positive or Igenex positive with Igenex. However, my symptoms and the bands that did show up positive and indeterminate (“IND”) were enough for the doctor to diagnosis me with lyme.

Many people are clinically diagnosed because the testing can be so inaccurate.

Wow! You all are so helpful - I really appreciate it. It looks like it may be hard to test for. If a person has had lyme for a long time would it not test positive because it hides in the immune system or doesn't allow the body to produce antibodies to it? Just wondering

Hi Anjne - welcome!


Band 23 is a lyme 'specific' band - meaning only lyme causes it to be positive.

If you have had a tick embedded on you, plus symptoms of lyme disease...then that test result is enough to back up the clinical diagnosis.

You could see LLMD with that result.

If you choose to test with Igenex - the best bang for your buck is the lyme WB Igm and IgG for $250.

They do have some new tests now - the Immunoblot and the IGXSpot.
They look like they're similar to the Arminlabs Ispot and immunoblot.

I don't know anyone who has had the new tests done yet...but they may turn out to be better than the Western Blots.
