For those of you who have had a lumbar puncture, did the pressure register higher than normal?

Did the doctor suspect encephalitis?

Also, did you culture the fluid? What were your results?

Most of the few I have known of were normal pressure with only one having elevated pressure. I'd say it was over 5 to 1 being normal pressure. Fluids came back normal. If they cultured it, they didn't find anything.

Thanks GH. That's too bad. Maybe it's not worth getting this procedure done then. I had enormous head pressure over the past couple days, but who knows if this symptom would actually result in an elevated pressure reading during a spinal tap. Also it seems to come and go, so it would be hard to say if on the particular day that I got the spinal tap, if the head pressure would be there.

I get head pressure at the moment on the back of my head,and was bitten find months ago, symptoms showing g up since October
Could it be encephalitis?

I have head pressure too - mine is in the front - behind my eyes.
Babesia can cause head pressure - mine definitely got worse on the Mepron.

Don't do lumbar punctures dude, this is crazy ancient medieval torture. Even if you have cancer, bone marrow biopsy or lumbar punctures is something to consider only when there's no other options. And with lyme, you have a bunch of options, you have LLMD who will treat you clinically.
