Babesia from open wound?

Hello there!

This is probably just me worrying as sometimes happen with Lyme disease. However, I can't get it out of my head. I recently visited a Lyme clinic where many patients where at the same time. When talking to the doctor, I managed in some way to open a small wound on one of my fingers next to the nail using the other hand. I had previously been to the toilet etc, not sure if I cleaned the hands that time... There was some blood in the wound but we quickly took care of it by spraying some disinfectant at it.

Anyway, 12 hours later, I woke up at night feeling extremely hot and sweaty (but no fever). I have had night sweats before a few times (at least 15 or so) during the last half year, but never have I felt hot at the same time. My complete body was very hot. This lasted then for over 24 hours (was better in the morning the day after but became bad again in the next evening). Now a few days later I feel a bit hot in my forehead still and I have more fatigue/feeling slightly sick that before. But the extreme heat in the body is gone.

Is there any chance at all that i managed to poke Babesia parasites into my wound when creating it? Perhaps most interestingly, is it even possible to get symptoms after only 12 hours, especially these heat symptoms?

Does anyone have an idea why otherwise I would get these hot feelings? Can lyme create them?

I need to consider to make a new test in a few weeks, if anything just to get rid of these worries. Its enough to worry about my Lyme disease...

I don't think you can get babesia from an open wound... Bartonella can be spread through cat scratches-but since you mention night sweats you might have had babesia or bartonella already. I've had strange hot feelings for a long time. I think it started when I got lyme or bartonella.

I wish there was some way to make them go away... I felt hot with sweating, sometimes hot without sweating, and sometimes it is accompanied by wheezing and coughing. But if I take my temperature it is always normal. I've been feeling too hot instead of cold more lately. I hope that is a good sign

I'm sorry to say that there is no good testing for any co infection currently.

I don't think you could contact babesia that quickly and in that way.

The following can be symptoms of lyme:

-feels unregulated
-Can’t stand hot or cold temperatures.
-Body temperature below 37C ( 98.6°F)
-Ice cold body parts and patches
-Unexplained sudden over-heating throughout body.
-Unexplained chills
-Unexplained sweats/fevers/feeling very hot.
-Unexplained fevers

Notime4lyme: Sorry to hear about your heat feelings. I agree, its really annoying to not have the right body temperature. Thank you for the reply! I actually think it is possible, other parasites can infect that way I've heard, but in this case highly unlikely since it would have to be transferred using my other hand.

PeteZa: Thank you so much, this reply really calmed my down a bit! Exactly what I needed smile May I ask where you found that symptom list? From it it really seems like Lyme could be the reason for my long lasting hot feelings that appeared suddenly at night. Or do you know if with Lyme the hot feelings usually do not last so long? This night/morning I was instead feeling cold but now regulation seems to be quite good again...

Actually, night sweats, or just that over heating feeling is usually from Babesia, especially if they showed up at night. During the day and milder overheating and sweats can be from Lyme, but they usually appear during the day more.

Babesia causes temperature dysregulation in the body for some - it did for me. I had to keep the ambient temps around me between 78 - 82 or I would take days to either warm back up or cool back down (and have heat exhaustion symptoms appear).
