Hello all.
just looking for some feedback on this topic.
A little background - I never really had depression until about 10 years ago, I had three traumatic events happen, pretty much simultaneously while at the same time I had just quit smoking cold turkey after about 20 years of smoking a pack/day. All of this really impacted me, and my mom suggested I see a psychiatrist that she knew. He put me on Wellbutrin, which helped me get through these things.
Fast forward to today, I am still taking Wellbutrin (which is fine) and still seeing the same Psych for the med. Up until I started treatment in June 2017, I occasionally suffered mild depression periods, but I generally accepted it as part of life and just to embrace it and use it as a 'reflective' time.
Since starting treatment for the 3B's, I've had some significant depression episodes unlke anything I've ever expeienced before...just a heavy, heavy dark feeling, hopeless and sad. Though these were also triggered by the loss of my job (I had for 10 years) and I now consider that I was grieving hard while in a fragile state.
That said, my LLMD has several times suggested Zoloft. Each time I expressed I'm not comfortable with that, and she tends to dismiss my concern about starting an antidepressant I can't wean off of. Her most recent response is silence, which tells me that they would not wean me off of it.
In general I know how to deal with my depression, and importantly, if I have a really down day, I pray for God to take these thoughts away and lift of the heavy feeling, and it works.
I guess my question is, has anyone experienced with their Dr recommending an anti-depressant, did you take it, did it help and was the Dr involved in weaning you off of it?
Thanks, sorry for the long post.
