Late hiv seroconversion and Lyme disease?

Hi all,

I have been diagnosed with Lyme disease 2 years ago, not in its most unbearable form, however quite damaging.

I am worried today because I have received unprotected oral sex from a ********** in Barcelona 4 weeks ago as well as skin contact on the genital areas...
In addition to feeling extremely stupid, I am concerned that I might have caught another disease (HIV..); I have done an HIV auto-test 4 weeks after that and received a negative result, however I know this a too short period to be certain. A few days before that, I scheduled an appointment at a specialized clinic for next Monday (5 week total), which also might not be enough.
I have no symptoms singular to HIV, but still my Lyme disease symptoms that might ressemble some caused by hiv (muscle/nerve pain mostly).

My question is: how much time should I really wait, and does Lyme disease cause late seroconversion ? It is hard to really understand whether autoimmune diseases cause late seroconversion or not...
I am also thinking, the fact that I am weaker than average might have caused the opposite effect, with acute symptoms?

Im sorry you have Lyme but its good you have found us.

Its good you are following up with more HIV testing to be sure.

Are you currently treating your Lyme and do you have co infections?

When you say lyme seroconversion - are you talking about antibodies switching from IgM to IgG?

If you were diagnosed with LD 2 years ago and you didn't treat it...or you didn't treat it long enough...then you still need more treatment. ...no matter what the test results are. We can not rely on testing to show if we still have active lyme disease.

As Jo stated - it's good that you are following up with more HIV testing.

The odds of getting HIV from oral sex (alone) is astronomically low. It's actually so low that a lot scientist say it is nearly not possible, because they aren't allowed to technically say it's "impossible".

If there's an open wound in the mouth or genital area that's the exception then it can become more likely, but still not likely, as HIV is a weak virus and would have a tough time surviving the enzymes in our saliva.

Outside genital contact is just as low because simply the open air makes it super tough for the weak HIV virus to survive. It's not a hardy virus like the flu virus or herpes virus that can basically live and be contracted any where.

The stars have to almost align. The environment has to be a enclosed (away from open air) area where it can have contact with thin layers of membranes and even then the odds are best if there's an open wound of some kind (i.e. open sore, a cut or tear).

It's why its the "other" entrance, unprotected, is the majority of HIV transfer cases. That entrance promotes much higher probability of cut, tears, and bleeding.

I hope that gives you some positive piece of mind.

What Dacarte said. Oral sex is not a common route of infection. I mean, i wouldn't roll the dice again. But I would let go of the anxiety for now

That would be "class-switching". Seroconversion is when antibodies start to become detectable. It's not exactly clear, but sounds like the OP is asking if Lyme might prevent seroconversion of HIV. In other words, could Lyme cause a false negative HIV test.

Thank you all for your replies.

Sorry i haven't got much time right now to answer, but yes, i have been treating my lyme disease for 2 years.
And yes, I am referring to hiv seroconversion, as I feel that nothing will reassure me until I get a 100% negatve result.
