How long can you take Coartem for Babesia?

After taking a month of Mepron/Zith, followed by 2 weeks off (the worst 2 weeks of my life due to the herx it caused), my LLMD put me on Coartem, 2x/day, every Fri/Sat/Sun for 4 weeks. I tolerated it extremely well with only a few bad days during the whole month and honestly feel like I am now winning the war against Babesia Duncani. I was expecting my LLMD to switch me to Malarone at my appointment on tuesday but he said continue with Coartem for another 6 weeks. Has anyone taken Coartem longer than a month? Or any other experiences with it? It seems to be a wonder drug for me and I’m hoping it’s still effective at killing the babs the longer I take it. I know I need 4-5 months minimum to treat babs and this will take me to 14 total weeks of the 18 or so that are minimally required. Throughout this time I have been taking zith on the 4 days opposite coartem and have been taking doxy all 7 days but now am beginning Minocycline tonight.

duncani is a super b*tch to get rid of just when you think you're making progress you get whacked.

while everyone is different expect 9-12 months of hitting this heavily to have any attempt at clearing it. took me 9 months first go round then another year before putting it to bed, well i think to bed.

you can do coartem rounds many times but it will lose its effectiveness thats what happened to me after 3 rounds or so. switching to malarone/mepron is the right approach and to stay on that until its dead and buried.
