I have Unum and am 61 just had a Neuropsche eval and realize I cant perform my job due to slowed brain function and visual processing. This sucks I wanted and needed to work until 70.

Sorry to hear this, Kct.

Is it possible that once treatment starts to resolve your symptoms that maybe in a couple of years you could go back to work?

I think I'm going to need to work until I'm 70 too to catch up.

That's been my biggest financial loss - is the income...way more than the meds/appointments...etc.

almost 5 years for me now...that's a ton of $$$ lost.

I am going through this process now, and it sucks. I am on short term now a few months, and the process is terrible. my disability insurance reviews my case every month or so to determine eligibility.

i am in process of scheduling a neurophysc exam myself to take it to the next step. unfortunately, i wont be able to get in for that for close to two months.

I need to go back to work too, the financial loss is starting to be crippling with all the medical expenses. (and i only have been treating for a few months - can only imagine the impact after years.)

I'm going to see if changing to an 8hr day makes any difference. My shift will be 6- 230. I hope this will help mitigate the chronic fatigue/sleep latency problem. I also wonder if the heavy metal detoxing could help my brain my mercury is moderate and lead is slightly high from my urine proked test. I read a fair amount of Dr Bredeson's book the end of alzheimers and i believe he has it right. If I don't improve in 8-10 weeks then I'll go the disability route. My friend is a daytrader and said he would help me make a few hundred a week.

the mornings are the toughest for me, when i go back i will probably have to attempt some weird split set of hours. since i need around 3 or 4 hrs after taking pills to accomodate any herxing, or try to muscle through it.
