Do antibiotics work (compared to natural remedies)

Some doctors only do natural remedies and some doctors only do antibiotics.

If a LLMD only does antibiotics, is it still OK to go?

I was told by a LLMD's office that lyme hides under biofilms and antibiotics alone will not work so I am skeptical of going to LLMDs who only do antibiotics.

Everyone's situation is different. I believe if you can tolerate antibiotics long term that is the way to go, plus adding herbals. There are many over the counter non-antibiotic supplements that help breakdown biofilm. Most of us take these in our regimen. It's finding the right combination that works for you. No one has an absolute answer.

For those that cannot tolerate ABX at all, then herbals, plus supplements are your only option.

Definitely up to the individual. Gotta find what works for you.

For me, abx is not going to work. It knocks my whole body off balance and I get significantly worse. My route is supporting whole body function to enable it to do its job. But for many, abx has gotten them into remission.

If someone has been on abx for years and not getting better, it seems a more holistic should implemented. Just my opinion.

Well, there’s a difference between a doctor who uses “only antibiotics” and who only uses pharmaceuticals. One antibiotic doesn’t get all forms, so they must use combinations and other things that are not necessarily antibiotics- antiparasite, anti fungal, off-label uses, etc. But those would be synthetic medications, not herbal or natural.

So yes, you can get well using only pharmaceuticals/ allopathic doctor. For now, I use pharmaceuticals and antibiotics for killing the infections, and natural supplements and herbs to manage symptoms and support my immune system.

What about an LLND? In most states they can rx all drugs but opiates and they have full knowledge of herbals and supplements so you have the best of both.

Perhaps the variety of perspectives in the above posts will help you clarify your own thinking, and, thus, which path you select. But, remember, you can always change your mind. You can choose herbs only, antibiotics only, or a combination of the two.

Hopefully, you can find a non-dogmatic doctor that will partner with you, is capable AND willing to discuss the pros and cons of any approach, and who helps you move away from sickness and toward healing.

I think the same way. I also I'm going to see my llmd a my primary causes neuropsych issues. I started the buhner protocol for 3 months. I feel like it didn't do a lot but it's really slow. I'm worried about going on antibiotics I don't want to be one of those cases at does antibiotics and never recovers.
