Hi Ellisa114 and welcome to this forum,
I'm fairly new here, too. I'm going to begin with Dr. Jernigan's protocol very soon. I just got the book and have read it for the 1st time.
But for you, I have some recovery with my diet that I think could be beneficial. Since I have changed a few things up, my symptoms are not as severe.
I cut sugar and flour products and actually cut meat also. Now, I'm eating vegetables the most and organic canned beans (usually cannellini or red kidney beans), and sometimes eggs. I'm careful not to eat a whole can of beans at a meal. It doesn't go well for me.
Salads are good for these foods or cooked lightly. I've also learned to use water to cook my food instead of oil. This has been a big improvement for me (if I do ever use oil to cook the eggs occasionally, it's organic unrefined coconut oil and not olive oil or other oil, and on fairly low heat). I mostly crack the egg on top of the vegetables after they are almost done and put a lid on the pan to cook for a few more minutes until the egg is cooked like I want it.
I add coconut oil to my food after it has been cooked, and I also like to cut up 1/2 an avocado to put on top with a thin slice of chopped red onion and either lemon juice or apple cider vinegar. I also like to add Bubbies sauerkraut on top sometimes.
Once in a while I eat salmon or sardines. But most of the time I take Algae Omega 3 as a supplement and B12 and a B complex. I also take Vit D because I don't get much sunlight.
When I want to be soothed, I eat yellow squash. It works for me.
