Took 4 months of artesunate

And my doc doesn’t want me to continue on it. Is there a herb I should be using to cover babs other than crypto and sida?

Well , for myself I wouldn't leave Crypto out. Are you allergic or having issues with it?


This is Buhners protocol for Babesia taken from His book "Natural treatments for Lyme co infections" from p.94

All herbals Should be started at a low dose and one at a time to see how you react.

Check for all side effects and contradictions as I am not a medical professional.



Bidens pilosa 1/2 tsp. 3X daily,

Sida acuta 1/2 tsp 3x daily

Cryptolepis sanguinolenta, 1/2 tsp 3x daily

Artemisinin 100-200 mg 3x daily

Salvia miltiorrhiza(for immune system)1/2 tsp 3x daily,

Milk thistle seed, standardized, capsules 600-1200 mg 3x day ,

L-arginine, 2000 mg 3x daily

Riboflavin(B 2),30 -40 mg 3x daily

Ashwagandha ,1/2 tsp 3x daily(may cause drowsiness)

Tincture combo of Panax ginseng, licorice, Schisandra chinensis(equal parts of each),1/2 tsp 3X daily.

Why doesn’t he want you to continue with it?

How about switching to pulsing Artemisinin then?

Can’t you take Cryptolepis?

Hi both, sorry my message wasn’t very clear, I am taking crypto and sida, I guess what I meant is whether there is a herb that would substitute the artesunate? Or do I even need that?

Honestly I don’t know why he wants me to stop he originally prescribed 12 weeks and then when I was running out said he will do another 4 weeks. I never questioned it and from what I read people aren’t on it too long... but I could be wrong?!

You can order Artemisinin online - maybe you could do that...and do a pulsed approach (you shouldn't be on it for a long stretch)

You could do 3 days on and 11 off....or something similar.

Yes they are different - there are several derivatives/constituents not a silly question

Artemisia - whole herb
Artemisinin - active constituent of artemisia
Artesunate - even stronger than artemisinin
Dihydroartemisinin - stronger


Artemether- Lumefantrine is a combo med that some llmd’s prescribe.

I think only Artemisia and Artemisinin are the only ones you can get without a prescription.

Although there was a Zhang product that contained either the Artesunate or dihydroartemisinin

If you’re on artemisinin for too long - your intestine can create an enzyme to destroy it - rendering it useless.

The Drs disagree on how long that is

LLMD MR says 3 days

I know some llmd’s prescribe it for a week straight

"Woodland essence is beginning to carry an herb i have been interested in for a long time, Nauclea latifolia, from South Africa. It is a broad spectrum antibiotic and very specific for malaria and babesia. It has a long history of use in southern Africa and it appears to be very effective. New babesia herb that buhners mentioned on his Facebook this week. there are plenty a d I meant PLENTY that have been used for protozoa like malaria and babesia. Malaria is endemic to many parts of the world and particularly regions with rich histories of herbal medicine so keep digging. Maybe look into alchornea as well. That's another buhners herb and I want to say malaria was one use. But can t remember

i've been taking artemisinin pulsed for over a year now no issues.

i've graduated off the babesia focused protocol of late and am still doing a week of some babs meds to ensure it stays on the floor. artemisinin and crypto are my main weapons.
