Just removed a tick! HELP!

I just removed a tick from myself this morning. My llmd is in another state and is not easy to get in to see. What should I tell my regular doctor to prescribe? I know Doxy but for how long and what mg? I have been diagnosed with Lyme and treated this time last year. Seemed to be just getting over it and now this. I'm terrified. Please give me some advice

ILADS recommends that if people want to treat prophylactically with doxy, to use it for at least 20 days, although I've seen others on Lyme forums say 4-6 weeks. They also say the standard 100 mg twice a day may not be enough, so I take that to mean they'd prefer the 200 mg twice a day that is normally recommended here.

Can you get whatever you can from your PCP or a walk-in clinic to start with and then get more from your LLMD when you can get through to them?

Tick bite - no signs/symptoms is 28 days.


If you get symptoms, then treat until symptom free plus 4-8 weeks.

There used to be a link on that site to the Burrascano guidelines...not sure if it's still there somewhere.

Also take Astragalus 3000mg per day for 30 days. I take 1000mg per day for prevention.

Did you save the tick or any part of it. It can be tested at TickReport in Amherst Mass at UMass University for a fee. There is a 3 day turn around for results once they receive the tick.

They also test for co infections.
