Hi everyone

Does anyone have any thoughts on taking Bactrim in the summer-how sensitive to sunlight has it made you?

My son has been taking it to cure his IBS/SIBO but I wonder if it would be good for his OCD (bartonella?) as well. Maybe he has PANS?

I am on bactrim...so far it hasn't made me sun-sensitive....not like the doxy anyway.
I haven't been out in the sun without protection for more than about 10 minutes, though.


If he has OCD from bartonella ...he needs more treatment. Is he not treating bart anymore?
Do you feel he has plateaued?

I’m not sure the ocd is from bartonella. He is still taking houttuynia sida jkw and gou teng. He is taking the bactrim for sibo but I thought why not carry on with it for any possible bartonella. But all the warnings for sun sensitivity are making me scared. He’s finally feeling like going outside after three years and I don’t have the heart to prevent him from finally having fun. Don’t know what to do.

Did he have the ocd prior to bart?

How fair is your son? A good sunscreen may be enough.
Maybe do a trial - have him go out in the sun with sunscreen and have his arms exposed for half hour and see how he does.

I honestly hadn’t heard bactrim caused sun sensitivity.

I’m very fair & was on bactrim last summer with no sun sensitivity problems. I even went to the Caribbean while I was on it. I used a 50+ SPF sunblock for the beach & prolonged outdoor activities but didn’t lather on a bunch of sunblock for day to day things & was fine! I also found it to be effective for keeping my bartonella symptoms in check.
