Hello, I am 21 and have been suffering from symptoms for about a year. It all started when I woke up one morning with extreme brain fog and fatigue to the point where I couldn't think at all and felt like I was sort've just awake but not really there. I went to an urgent care which just prescribed the usual prednisone for a week, and took some blood tests that said I had EBV in the past. The brain fog and fatigue took about 5 days to go away and over those 5 days it would get better and better everyday. For about 6 weeks I was completely fine and then one day I came home from work and just felt completely out of it and tired and just thought I needed some sleep which I did. The extreme brain fog and fatigue then came back and lasted for about 5 days before it went down. This time the brain fog and fatigue has still slightly hovered and been there. In these times where I had extreme brain fog I also had diarrhea regularly throughout these days.
I have had many blood tests and mri's all come back mostly negative besides my rheumatoid factor being slightly elevated at 38(rheumatologists don't seem to think this is a problem). I had 2 Western Blot tests, the first showed band 41igg and band 58igg reactive. The next test showed just band 41igg and 41igm reactive. Also not sure if this is related but I was tested for bartonella henselae which came back negative also. My b6/b12 were naturally high which im not sure if it has any relation to lyme.
Currently my symptoms are slight brain fog, strange muscle twitching all over the body(sort've like how your stomach rumbles), shoulder/rhomboid area and neck soreness and stiffness, fatigue, sore/burning eyes, constant burn in stomach, and I also have no motivation to do anything. I'm honestly out of answers and don't believe this is just depression/anxiety as it just showed out of nowhere.
Hi podz, welcome to our community!
While your WB tests are negative, it really doesn't mean much. The WB results are based on your body's immune system to be able to mount a response to the bacteria. It's not unusual for our immune system to be suppressed due to the infection(s).
Band 41 is one that many (most?) of us who are diagnosed with lyme have. It represents the flagella (tail) of a spirochetal bacteria. There are a few 'things' besides lyme that can cause the band 41 to show up.
Where was the test done - what lab?
If you do want to try for a positive WB test...you could do another one - from Igenex Lab in California. This lab specializes in tick borne disease testing. (unless that's the one you previously used)
You can get the Lyme WB IgM and IgG for $250.
You could also schedule an appt. with a LLMD for an evaluation. Diagnosing lyme disease should be a clinical diagnosis..using test results as a back-up.
Many people do have lyme disease but have negative testing.
No - it isn't depression - causing all that: brain fog, muscle twitches, shoulder and neck soreness/stiffness, fatigue, burning eyes....
If you want help finding a LLMD, you can start a new thread: "Looking for LLMD in/near____" and fill in the blank with you
location.
You can also contact me - I have a list with some LLMD's - just send me an email.
Thanks! I believe the lab results are from quest, honesty seeing a LLMD seems to be my last resort as nothing else seems to show up.
