Hi, I am in the preliminary stage of being diagnosed. My orthopedic doc sent me to a
Rheumatologist, but appointment is not until August 29.
With my symptoms and initial positive blood work, I am sure that I have Lyme and
have had it for many years.
I would like to start out with a doc that knows the disease and how to best treat it.
Any of your suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Thank You.
Dr. L top chronic lyme doctor in Michigan, over in Saginaw
Dr. Z is pretty good in Romeo
Dr. M is decent.
Both Dr. Z and Dr. M prescribe antibiotics in low doses, not aggressive at all. But they can get you started, Dr. L is more aggressive and more educated on the subject.
Dr. M has this ideology that less is more, centers his treatment around mainly using minocycline longterm. He might use aggressive antibiotics for short term purpose, but that'll be it. He's not educated on biofilms, persister cells, coinfections very much. He'll due diagnostic testing for coinfections, but if the coinfections don't show up on the lab work, he won't treat you for them. Which anyone who knows about
lyme coinfections, you can't count on labwork, but your symptoms instead. He'll also look into your eyes and just guess whether or not have neurological lyme, test out your motor functions. I can tell you from experience, that he though I didn't have neurological lyme, he was very wrong!!!
Treatment has progressed a lot further that what some of these supposed lyme literate doctors are using in Michigan. I highly suggesting checking out what Dr. Horrowitz and Dr. Jemsek are using these days and demand that someone more educated like Dr. L try that new treatment out. They are the top Doctors when it comes to this disease, so was Dr. Burrascano, but I'm not sure where he is these days...
Dr. Z and Dr. M don't even using Flagyl or Tindamax in their treatment protocols, shows how uneducated they are on chronic lyme. But again, they can get you started on antibiotics though...
I suggest doing research on biofilms, what herbs to use like Stevia and Xylitol in combination with your antibiotics to help speed up treatment. I would recommend a persister cell antibiotic since you're in the chronic lyme state but it's up to you... You can take it later down the road, good thing would be get started on antibiotics...

Good luck with that, Rheumatologist is absolutely useless when it comes to chronic lyme, so are 99% of the other doctors. Rheumatologist will most likely put you on pain pills, which eventually you'll build up a tolerance to, you'll have to increase dosage and eventually become toxic to your body and organs longterm. Autoimmune drugs are another thing they'll use too, which is also useless, they'll lower your immune system, allowing the borrelia to wreak havoc on your body. Steroids are also useless when it comes to chronic lyme!
Find a good LLMD in Michigan or out of state and get treated properly. If you have lyme arthritis, it will go away with longterm treatment of antbiotics. I'm sure you have to factor in your age and health, when it comes to how quick you'll respond, but antibiotics work great for recovering from arthritis when it comes to chronic lyme. Killing off the remaining persister cells, possible coinfections will be the harder part.
If you're sensitive to herxing, you might have to start off slow. But my recommendation would use at least something like Flagyl, Tindamax, or Alinia with Doxycyline or Zithromax in beginning stages of treatment. Then go from there... I wouldn't take no for an answer when it comes to these drugs, I tried a lot of antibiotics that didn't work, until I tried Flagyl and it helped me tremendously with lyme arthritis.
I've heard of this new Dr. M in Grand Blanc, but I think he's more of a naturopath type of Doctor, I would be weary of just using herbs. Herbs in combination with antibiotics I've found is the best treatment for Lyme.
CBD oil from my experience is the best medicine for pain such as arthritis, doesn't give you a high, works great. Turmeric and fish oil is decent too, but not as effective and quick working as CBD oil. Turmeric and fish oil is more longterm relief, with CBD oil you'll get quicker relief. And remember, not all CBD oil is created equally. Scientists have found you you must keep other cannabinoids and terpenes together with the specific CBD cannabinoid to get the full synergistic effect with the hemp oils.
I've heard Bluebird Botanicals is good, never tried it though. I've had success with Charlottes Web/CW Hemp. CW Hemp is a little high in price though, if you get a marijuana card, you can get cheaper CBD oils at the dispensaries that work pretty good like Special FX Labs CBD CO2 oil Tincture.
Good luck...
And just be aware, just because new multiple studies like the John Hopkins and Embers study have shown why lyme is staying chronic, aka persister cells and biofilms. It doesn't mean someone like a rheumatologist or infectious disease doctors knows about
these studies and are educated about
Lyme. Most Doctors are still convinced Chronic Lyme is psychosomatic due to the decades long of propaganda put out by the IDSA Doctors.
You can show these articles to your Doctors, but I can assure you, these Doctors hate when their patients try to educated them with articles brought to them from the internet, especially when it comes to Lyme. A lot of the Doctors in the medical system after graduating from medical college, have this ideology and mentality just because they've put so much effort studying over the years, they think they know everything there is to know when it comes to treatment and science. Couldn't be further from the truth, science and breakthroughs is always changing on a daily basis, possibly hourly, even by the minute as we progress with technology. There's a lot of arrogant Doctors out there, so I'm forewarning you to be ready to deal with it mentally. A lot of Lyme patients have nervous breakdowns because they don't understand why infectious disease doctors say chronic lyme disease doesn't exist.

That's what you're up against! A very intelligent resilient spirochete bacteria that can adapt to change in the environment it lives in....
