Tongue thrust

I noticed about a year ago that my tongue won't stay back or to the roof of my mouth. When I swallow it pushes my teeth and you can see it hanging forward at my teeth when I open my mouth which is embarrassing. I understand it's called a tongue thrust or reverse swallow and can be caused from nasal congestion/alergies.

I do have both but has anyone experienced this as a symptom of Lyme or coinfections? It's driving me mad and is so painful!!

I've had all sorts of tongue problems and I'm not sure if it's due to nerve damage from the Lyme, or bad orthodontics when I was a kid. I never knew anything was wrong until I switched dentists recently, and they sent me to a speech therapist, and they took one look at my tongue and said it was all wrong. I guess it was on the bottom of my mouth instead of the roof of my mouth like it's supposed to be.

It's a lot better now but the right side is kind of weak/paralyzed, and somehow sometimes something doesn't close right when I swallow, and I get food in my nose.

I've never found anyone on here who has a thrust, they have described their tongue as swollen.

Could you tell me if treatment for Lyme/coinfections fixed your tongue? (i.e. No speech therapy needed)

Thanks Notime4lyme. I have the same tongue position. It's too low. I have read it can be caused from nasal congestion which I have with rhinitus.

Did your Lyme treatment not help your tongue?

My boyfriend now has it and never did before which scares me and makes me think it is the Lyme and coinfections.
