Neuroquant Update

I had an MRI with Neuroquant back in April of this year but could not afford to pay a doctor to analyze it. I even contacted Surviving Mold to inquire as to how much Shoemaker charged to do it and the office wouldn't respond to me after finding out I was a patient trying to get help directly rather than working with a doctor. The other place I had seen referenced on the website wanted a ridiculous sum of money to analyze the report. I mentioned that in my email to Surviving Mold.

Well, lo and behold, some weeks ago, I got a newsletter email from Surviving Mold that they are now offering an automated analysis report of the Neuroquant results for (drum roll) . . . . $25. Boy, was I glad to hear that. So, tonight I put in my data and got my analysis report. Unfortunately, I'm not quite sure what to make of the results. Unless others got a printed analysis from their doctor, I doubt anyone else's data will appear quite like this.

RESULTS:

At the top, it shows:

Atrophic Nuclei: Forebrain, Hippocampus, Thalamus
Lateral Ventricle: Enlarged
Mold Score: 2
Lyme Score: 1
Asymmetry Found: No

Underneath the above data, there is a statement that reads:

"A Mold Score of 2 is not consistent with CIRS-WDB. A Lyme Score of 1 is not consistent with CIRS-PLS."

Without consulting with a doctor, I'm making the assumptions based on what's written that YES, I DO have atrophy and an enlarged lateral ventricle and YES, Mold and Lyme indicators are present but NO, it is not severe enough to be considered CIRS at this point. What do you think?

I had this Neuroquant MRI done in April 2018. I got out of the moldy environment and started detoxing and taking fish oil and glutathione in Sep 2016 and started tiny doses of Buhner's protocols for Lyme and bartonella in June 2017. This is the only Neuroquant I've had. A good Shoemaker doc would have done one at the beginning of CIRS diagnosis and a followup one after treatment. Maybe I've detoxed enough at this point that I'm out of the CIRS definitive red-zone with the brain damage?

I was able to find it on the surviving mold web site. I ended up with a mold score of 4 and lyme score of 1. So, consistent with CIRS-WDB but not PLS. This was before I did some of the mold treatment though. The only thing that changed any of my symptoms was the desmopressin. I never took CSM - the doctor I was seeing said it was not necessary because I did not have the HLA mold gene (have the lyme one though). I did try welchol before and didn't notice anything. My realtime labs repeat test was negative too (first one was slightly elevated gliotoxin). My house checked out ok. We stay at a place a few times a year that was water damaged, but I don't notice a decline after going there and it didn't test horrible on ERMI. My labs are all mixed - some indicate mold, some don't. Very confusing!

It seems like you are getting mixed results too.

I did the desmopressin for 20 days (10 doses, every other day taken at bedtime). When my urinary stuff flares I will go about 5 times a night, with burning after. With the desmopressin I did not go at night, but started to feel like I was getting a UTI. I took a few days off and loaded up on d-mannose. When I started back up I was fine and now have periods where I will not go all night. I still flare up though. But that was by far the most improvement I have noticed through all my treatments. If I take one dose of antibiotic it will throw me back into a flare. My ADH had gotten back up into normal range on the desmopressin but then I had to take an antibiotic for something and it knocked it back down.

I have no idea what direction to go now. I'm on a wait list for a doc that is klinghardt and shoemaker trained in a different state. I cannot do antibiotics so I'm steering away from those docs. I'm only doing LDI/LDA at the moment.

WBF - Do you happen to know what the highest score is on the neuroquant analysis?

I do not. I was wondering what the lowest score is to be considered CIRS. It must be either 3 or 4 since my 2 wasn't but your 4 was.

What state is this doctor in? Hope you get some help.

I'm just gonna keep treating bacteria, viruses, yeast, parasites, etc with herbs for the time being. I definitely herx on tiny doses. Wish I could get a breakthrough somewhere that would enable me to take larger doses and herx less.

I'm in GA. Is this Dr. DO in Atlanta area?

I don't personally know anyone who's been to him, but it seems worth a try. At one time I thought about going there, but it's about a 4 hour drive for me. With the mold and chemical sensitivities I have, I have not wanted to travel that far or have to spend the night somewhere. Even my car bothers me.

Please update us with your experience. I hope he can help you.

How far is he from where you live now? Did you see any other Shoemaker certified practitioners before?

When you see the doctor, be sure to describe what happens whenever you take an abx. Sounds like yiu definitely have Lyme/co infections and herx easily.

I can't tolerate abx either. Every time I'm on one for something else, it sets me back symptom wise for 3-4 months. When I read about other people taking loads of abx, it makes me cringe. I can imagine my brain swelling and my organs failing just thinking about it.

I am not so sure it's a herx. I think the abx just irritate my bladder or are effecting the microbiome or even candida overgrowth. Could be wrong though.
