Hi all, I’ll be doing my first protocol transition tommorrow, and have a question about it.
Here’s what hapenning:
Last 3 months:
Doxy, Clarythromicyn, Plaquenil, Malarone
Starting tommorrow:
Mino, Clarythromicyn, Plaquenil, Alinia (3d/7), Rifpamin
i’m supposed to stop Doxy And Malarone tommorow, and add Minocycline in the loop.
5 days later, I’ll be adding the Alinia.
And 7 days after that, Rifpamin.
My question;
This mean that for almost a full week, I’ll be on just 2 abx: mino and clarythromicyn.
I heard that we need a trio of abx to avoid the bacteria to grow a resistance.
Am I exposed to a risk here, in your opinion?
Two antibiotics should be fine. I don't think you need to worry about
that.
I know people who have taken a macrolide plus a tetracycline and that's it for their entire treatment.
Most people do need more than that. The two people I can think of - they both started treating several months after being infected (not years) - but they didn't take a third one.
My LLMD has me taking Alinia on it's own for one week...and then a week with no meds.
