For those who follow/have followed Buhner's Protocol...

For those who follow/have followed Buhner's Protocol how long did it take for you get symptom-free/have minimal symptoms?

I am currently on full protocols for Lyme, Babesia and Mycoplasma. It took me months to work up to full dosages.

I was doing babesia one and noticed nothing from it. I don't think I have babesia after all. That one's supposed to be done first. But that's just my experience, probably not too helpful.

Are you referring to LLMD DrJ who treats Babesia early on with his treatment protocols?

I did his full bartonella, lyme and most of the babesia protocol for 8.5 months and saw no improvement in anything

I can't recall Girlie, I only remember reading co-infections should be treated first and maybe I figured I should do it in ABC order? lol

I did take CSA for a while and yeah it tasted pretty gross lol. It didn't seem to benefit me any after 3 months of it.

I have heard from multiple sources from doctors who say to go after the Babesia and Bartonella first (because they are worse than lyme, in their opinion), and going after those can actually resolve the lyme. Even heard it in the Chronic Lyme Disease Summits too.

If I had to do it again, I definitely would have gone after the Babesia/Bartonella first in our situation.

I know pharmaceutically Dr.J says to clear Babesia before you can treat bartonella (you don't need to focus on lyme because when you're treating babesia and bart, you're also taking abx for lyme.....but with Buhner herbs I've not read/seen that.
Don't most people start with the core - JK, CC...etc. and then start adding in Babs and Bart herbs?

I think the good thing when using herbs - is there's overlap...ie JK treats both lyme and bart.... Sida Acuta is good for both Bart and Babesia.
I guess it wouldn't really be too much to be treating the babesia/lyme together...then add in bart herbs shortly after that...

With pharma.....you can't really hit babesia and bartonella hard together unless you're willing to take the fluoroquinolones (the Mepron doesn't go with rifampin/Rifabutin)

I found many of the Buhner herbs effective but eventually I plateaued with them. Per usual, each case is different, so what works for one person may not work for another. I was also a pretty severe case (in my estimation), so I figured it would always take quite a bit of time and effort to regain health. Babesia is my core infection, the Buhner herbs were helpful, but I also do feel I need pharma antiprotozoals to really make further progress. He readily admits that some patients may need to use pharma... it can be a very tough infection to knock back.

Aurorakitty, it's interesting that you mention the malarone increased your symptoms. It could very well have been causing a herx, and effectively hitting underlying babesia that remains in your system. No matter what, it sounds like you are close to remission which is fantastic!
