Can you not get the glucose monitors for free in the U.S.?
I remember discussing this before, you Canadians get a little better coverage with this stuff.
For a US citizen with income: Our government mandated insurance is private (like them forcing you to buy a car from a private car dealer), but your insurance "benefits" will/can vary.
"Hard" medical items are generally purchased at normal price if not proven needed. If needed, insurance coverage varies just like a drug Rx.
American health care does not seem to think preventive measurements matter, as it feeds the big pharma and seems to want us all to get sick and be repeated "customers". Sick = $
If your glucose is naturally under 125, then its determined not "needed" and you pay 100% as insurance says your not "ill". This is BS. So 124 is fine, but 125 and you might die lol. If you average 124, you will be 125 and higher sooner than you think.
These test meters dont vary much in accuracy, but can vary a lot in cost. You need to shop the cost of the meter and tests strips, lancers are cheap. Most pharmacy's have some in house brand test kit that comes down to about
.50 to $1.00 a test.
