Mine was covered by insurance. Co-pay was $30.00. Not sure why, but I do know the plan I have through job is a good one. I was surprised when it was covered.

Two years ago I had United that covered only a two week supply with a $60 co-pay.

Now I'm back with BC&BS and they cover a full month. The manufacturer also has a coupon offering that brings your co-pay down to $10 per script.

Keep in mind that my state mandates that insurance companies fill all lyme related script for as long as the LLMD prescribes the Rx. The only way around this is that the insurance company can remove the item from their formulary.

I do feel sorry for folks that do not live in states that mandate Lyme treatment outside of IDSA guidelines.

And again for reference...those States that mandate Lyme prescriptions from LLMDs beyond IDSA guidelines are? I'm guessing RI, MA, CT, ME and MD? (Rhode Island, Massachussetts,Connecticut, Maine and Maryland?) Again I'm just guessing please someone correct this list if there are more!

I also wonder about Western States like California's (Covered California program) and Oregon (Oregon Health I think it's called). I feel these can be positively mitigated as long as there are more options for the patient in choosing more of the type of treatments they prefer such as cheap and widely available medical cannabis and alternative therapies that are also very low cost (like bees for instance).

It's weird that States (or Counties) may have things like Vitamin D and Fish Oil on their formularies, that are cheap and over the counter. Some of the possibly more effective drugs (like the pricey Allinia ) are a little too rich for my blood anyway and yes it would be nice to live in a more compassionate State so I could start to address parasites, protozoa, co-infections (and co-payments!).

I ordered Alinia online. I used: bigmountaindrugs.com. This is a pharmacy in Canada.

I had to email them a photo of my prescription. They mailed the medication to my house.

They only carry the generic of Alinia, which is called Nitazoxanide.

I looked at their website. $49 for 60 tablets (200 mg). $99 for 60 (500mg).

I ordered all my parasite medication through big mountain drugs when I did the Klinghardt parasite protocol.

Still very confusing navigating the US health care system for optimal treatment at an affordable cost, when most still deny both legitimate diagnosis and treatment.

My husband and I didn't feel comfortable ordering meds from any online pharmacy. It can be a very scary thing.

Just like Amazon, everything has good and bad reviews.

We did find good and bad reviews for Big Mountain Drugs. It's hard to know what to believe.

We decided to take a chance because all the parasite meds were too expensive through our own insurance.
