Rifampin break?

Has anyone taken a day off from Rifampin to allow the herx to die down?

I have not been on Rif specificly but I know plenty of people who do give themselves days/week breaks. Good luck

I have - this was a couple years ago when I was treating with the LLND (prior to Dr J)

Are you concerned about resistance?
You’re taking another antibiotic )or two) with it right?

There’s always Rifabutin to try if the Rifampin stops working.

... or are you concerned about the cases where people went into kidney failure after restarting Rifampin after a break?

I have not heard of people experiencing kidney failure after stopping and then retaking Rifampin. Could you please explain? I was not worried about resistance. I just wanted a day break to lessen the herx. I take Azithromycin along with the Rifampin.

There were a few cases of people (I think treating for TB) that restarted Rifampin after a break who went into kidney failure (but recovered)

Shouldn’t be a problem taking a break for a few days - I don’t take Rifabutin daily and also took breaks on Rifampin
