So I was diagnosed with lyme and bartonella in January last year, after being sick since 2015 and being tested for everything imaginable (autoimmune diseases, candida, viruses, parasites, etc.) and when I went to a LLMD I tested positive for lyme and bartonella. I have been in treatment since January last year but I'm still sick. My worst symptoms are mostly neurological such as pins & needles and sharp pains throughout my body. Visual snow, brain fog and depersonalization. There have been some periods during my treatment that some of these symptoms got better and were almost completely gone, for a while the pains in my body were gone and I felt a lot better physically. But then they came back again. Right now I feel worse than I did a year ago despite being in treatment for over a year... new symptoms have appeared during treatment such as hot flashes and insomnia, it's difficult for me to sleep because my skin feels really warm.
My LLMD tested me for other co-infections such as babesia and chlamydia but only lyme and bartonella were positive. This prompted me to get tested for MTHFR and see if this could be a reason for why I'm not getting better. My homocysteine was high, B12 was high and folate was low which means I do have MTHFR. I am now taking methylfolate, methylcobalamin and several vitamin B's to treat this. Anyone else here been in this situation? Is this the reason I haven't been able to get better?
