After getting sick in late May I had a Lyme test done and it came back negative in 4 days. I then had another one that came back positive in 12 days. It was explained that the 12 day one was more accurate because there was more time to study the blood's reaction.
Today, a nurse (who has not been involved with my treatment) told me that the negative test meant that I hadn't aquired Lyme recently and the positive test meant that the Lyme had been in my system for a long time before recently coming out. This would back up my theory since I didn't have tick in the spot where the rash recently was but I did have a tick there a couple years ago.
Is what this nurse told me today accurate?

I’m wondering if you had a negative IgM and a positive IgG result.
Uneducated people think that the IgM is a new infection and an IgG is an old ( not active ) infection.

But that is not true. IgM means active infection and IgG means older but can still be active.
I was positive with IgM I was infected for about 14 months - so not new.

Do you have the results? If not, get a copy and you can share them here (if you want) and we can help you decipher them.
Was there and IgM and an IgG test?

Do you have a LLMD treating you?

It could be as simple as the tests are really terrible and non repeatable.

There might have been different labs involved in testing, and different test types, like Elisa, Immunoblot , Western Blot, or PCR. Positive test results are better than negative, in lyme.

There is some basis for treatment with positive results.

I don't believe what the nurse told you is really accurate.
