I'm sorry you had this experience, it is all too common, especially in such unregulated fields like chiropractice (what's the proper word?). Applied kinetics I think is the same as muscle-testing which is yes, completely made-up. It also sounds like he overcharged you for some very basic supplements. The last one was probably mimosa pudica.

A lot of us do make those dietary accommodations and they may sound hard to follow but they actually leave room for a lot of other healthy foods. You can look into the paleo diet or autoimmune protocol and you'll see they eliminate these as well. So that is not uncommon.

While the chirodoesn’t sound great, don’t junk all those supps! Lots of people love Restore for healing gut. Also, mimosa pudica revealed a parasite issue for me.

I had a chiro give me betaine too. I never used it. There’s a self test you can do with betaine to see if you have enough stomach acid - just google it.

If you’re fairly new to all this and to supplements in general, it’s easy to feel like it’s all money grabbing overkill. I look back now at my second alternative practitioner - a Functional MD - who was trying to treat me for CIRS. She was very conservative in her supplement recommendations, and I still balked because of the cost. The only supplements she had me on were liposomal glutathione, EPA/DHA fish oil, and digestive enzymes. Now I willingly take bags and boxes full of stuff, mainly because my body is even more dysfunctional now than 3 years ago when I started.

I second k07 - don’t throw out the supplements. If you don’t know what they’re for or why you should be taking them, list them here, and we will help you sort through them. Then you can decide if you want to take any now. Even if not, you may want/need them later, so hold onto them.

They study health, nutrition, and functional medicine from a broad based view. They are not specialists - certainly not Lyme specialists. A chiropractor of any kind likely would have no knowledge or understanding of how to interpret your lab test results unless they were the one who ordered them.

A chiro could still be helpful, if you use them for what they’re good at, assuming they are good.

One thing to recognize and try to remember when dealing with any practitioner is that unless they are very knowledgeable, experienced, and teachable about Lyme/coinfections, they are not likely to understand the whole body dysfunction and bodily nuances that occur in Lyme patients. Those nuances can cause typical functional or health benefiting treatments to fail or not produce typical results in Lyme patients. Doesn’t mean that supplements or alternative therapies won’t work for us, but we may react much more strongly and need lower doses of some things. We can tend to be more sensitive to anything, particularly if we are very toxic or have a hard time detoxing, etc.

would you be willing to share what state he is in? is he reputable? I have been to a million bad drs but am going to a chiro for lyme next wk some ppl recommended and I sure hope its not the person you went to as I am hoping this person will actually help

They practice kinesiology at Sanoviv in Mexico. I understand the theory. But if you have pathogens or say you are wearing toxic deodorant. Shouldn't you constantly fail the tests with nothing in your hand?

Lyra I am currently on keto without dairy. It is very doable. Just stick to protein, healthy fats and veggies.

I agree with this-but there is no way I can do it. I'm starting keto and that's about all I can handle (planning ahead) and if I were to omit dairy I'd be really lost!

Have you considered carnivore? It greatly simplifies planning. I was full carnivore for about 5 months, but have recently shifted back toward keto (though still ~85% carnivore).

I went for 2 weeks at the end of 2017. I was going downhill fast. I believe Sanoviv helped stabilize me. Most of their treatments are good. But the kinesiology is questionable.

I would like to hear more about the Sanoviv treatment- did it help a lot or a little? it is very expensive do you feel it was worth it?

no I cant even afford it and it sounds like it is more of the same- not actually healing people. Does anyone actually heal people?
