Do your babesia symptoms flare, quit, and then come back every few weeks? about two weeks ago I stopped having as many Babesia symptoms, but then yesterday felt feverish all day and woke up drenched in sweat multiple times last night. Couldn't seem to stop sweating, but then I was freezing and shivering during parts of the night. Even woke up during all of that with air hunger. So I know it's obviously active right now. But my symptoms don't last long-term like my lyme or bartonella symptoms do. They come and go. I thought it was weird. My current symptoms include headaches every morning that get better throughout the day, severe mood swings with depression and mania-like symptoms, some joint pain, air hunger when I am really tired, shooting nerve pain, problems with over stimulation making my vision blurry and making me spacey, noise sensitivity to higher frequencies, temp fluctuations with hot flashes/chills, and some digestive issues. Do these sound like babesia symptoms? I'm confused because I also found a new bartonella rash recently too. Just trying to decide what the next method for treating needs to be and what to target. Thanks!

Some of your sx are Babs and others cross-over with Lyme and Bart which manifest as neuro, skin, and bone issues. Lots of folks comment that their Babs sx flare every 7 or 14 days. I never experienced the 7 or 14 day flares through my years of Babs treatment. I would only treat either Babs and Lyme, or Bart and Lyme aggressively, but others have treated all the B's at once.

Some of your regular symptoms could be Babesia too - the headache for example and maybe the sweats/chills etc that you get off and on are flares or herxing perhaps?

I'm not currently killing anything, so I don't think I am herxing. I've been on a killing break for over a month. So I know something is probably coming back or flaring more than usual. I haven't treated Lyme or Bart in several months and have never treated Babs. I've been focusing on parasites. But my reactions in the past have been a lot. I don't know if I could handle killing two infections at once. I know I need to though. It worries me that not treating Lyme and Bart for so long will end up biting me in the tail. I bought some A-Babs to do a challenge and see if we think that's a concern. It would probably line up with the 7-14 day window if it is Babs.

Maybe not herxes - but flares

My symptoms are always waxing and waning - I’m off my meds for the third week and each day is different - except for the 4 good days I had.

Girlie, do you think that if your immune system is compromised that you might have a less reaction to the flu? I have a lot of symptoms as the flu. But it's not as bad as it usually would be if I were healthy. Like nasal congestion, chills and sweats, worse fatigue, nausea, stomach upset, sore throat and coughing. I had the bad night sweats again last night, but didn't feel feverish yesterday like I did the day before. It might just be the combination of babesia and something else viral. I might get my LLMD to do a flu test anyways today.

I haven’t had the flu in many years.

Prelyme - rarely got it and post lyme - same.

I am sure the herxes I’ve had since being on Rifabutin are not the flu (not sure that’s what you’re asking)
They occur on the Friday of my “on” week with Rifabutin.
No diarrhea, no throwing up...
But high heart rate, fever, body pain including head sore to touch, head pressure...

And my regular days (when not herxing) I my symptoms aren’t flu/like
I doubt I’d be getting the flu every week

Saw my LLMD yesterday. He wants to hit babesia hard. Really hard. He put me on Alinia, Malarone, and Bactrim I think. I don't really want to do it. I think it will be too hard for my body. sad

I left really discouraged because I've worked really hard the last year to repair my body from the hard drugs that I tried for a year. It scares me to go back to pharmaceuticals. Especially those three.

What are your experiences with these drugs? I'm just scared. I have done herbal and homeopathic for 15 months. Going back to hard drugs makes me nervous. I don't know if I want to do it.

I had trouble with the bactrim but the Alinia didn’t seem to bother me - and I also took double dose of Atovaquone - herxed but I managed it.
I got some lesions when taking bactrim and it worried me knowing about the side effects/risks.

Have you been making progress in the 15 months?
If so - then why change what you’re doing?
If not - then it’s time to change things - if not abx... is there another protocol you could suggest to your Dr?

And when you were on abx before - did you make progress?

Girlie, I have made improvements in 15 months, but I also have a ton of new symptoms that have come up with this supposed Babesia flare. And I am frustrated with my ND's approach to things. He doesn't do any killing. So I don't know how much progress we're ACTUALLY making because we're not doing any killing. He says only lyme is active (based on electrodermal screening), but that doesn't explain the new symptoms. The migraines are totally new, the sweats have come back, and the psych issues have gotten worse in 15 months. So I don't know if things are working. I do feel better in some ways, but it's all of the new symptoms that are unexplained that worries me.

When I was on abx before, I didn't make a lot of improvement. They made me so sick. I felt like my body was always so worn down. If that's necessary to get better, then I will endure it, but I am not used to heavy herxing anymore. The homeopathics were bad at first, but I haven't been herxing in so long. Just not looking forward to going back to feeling sick all of the time. There's nothing that says I can't try the pharmaceuticals while also supporting my body with my NDs. Which would probably be a good option, but I know that none of my NDs would be happy with me for being on those drugs.
