Good morning all. Wondering if the Comprehensive Nutritional Panel, Spectracell lab test would be beneficial for my 77 y/o father who has had chronic persistent Lyme for 10+ years. His dr has him taking big amounts of Zinc & oral Mag yet isn't monitoring and did not do initial, comprehensive nutritional testing. Medicare has refused to pay for his nutritional tests many times in the past. We'd buy this test online then need to drive 2 hours away to an independent lab to draw the blood. The entire testing cost under $400 which seems a steal compared to the costs of a few, individual tests done after begging a dr to order them. Has anyone else ever had this panel done? Do you think the tests are accurate -why or why not? I'm reading much contrasting information and considering the sources....Just wanted to see if anyone else has experience or any thoughts with this particular blood test package.
My parents had the Micronutrient Test (Spectracell) done. I asked one of my doctors about
it, and she questioned its accuracy because she had had the Spectracell test done, and it showed that her B12 was fine (vegetarian at time of test if I recall correctly), but when she did other I think more routine blood testing, it showed a big B12 deficiency. She was sure she was very B12 deficient. This is a pretty knowledgeable doctor who told me this. She could look at routine blood work, like things in your CBC maybe? and get an idea of some of your vitamin levels. This is a view from one doctor.
