Hello everyone,
I'm writing from France. My son has been diagnosed with Lyme (Western Blot: 24 points: p100, vsE, p58, p41, P39, p18 Baf, p 18Bba ) after a bite this summer. He had 3 weeks of antibiotics. He still has some symptoms but the doctor says that he is cured. Is there a test to confirm that he is cured?
Thank you very much for your answers

There’s no test to confirm the infection is gone. If he still has symptoms, he still needs treatment. He may have more than one infection. Lyme rarely travels alone. Most people get several infections. Anaplasma, ehrlichia, babesia, bartonella, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, mycoplasma pneumonia, chlamydia pneumonia are the most known ones in the US.
Is there an LLMD (Lyme literate medical doctor) in your country or in a
location you can travel to? Herbal treatment is also an option.

You dont know.
Only three weeks ABX is shorter than the reproductive cycle of the lyme bacteria itself- see the problem here?
If this were myself and I couldnt get any more ABX from anyone, id resort to continuation via "self treat" with herbs at least.
I have met people who had "accute" onset lyme and treated on time though. But one is now complaining of never feeling good, napping all the time, cant think, cant sleep...........so you never know.

Thank you so so much for you replies!!! I am writing from France and I am very grateful for all your answers.
Our doctor didn't even wanted to treat my son because according to him the infection was old and his symptoms were not so important ( On western Blot he has 24 points on IgG but only 8 on IgM).
My son had a lot of bites previously ( we live near a forrest) but no symptoms apart from an ankle that hurted a lot sometimes but the doctor said he was just growing up.
But this summer 3 weeks after a bite he had 10 days of vomiting, then huge weakness, head aches and then one of the knee was hurting, sometimes an elbow, sometimes an ankle. Sometimes it didn't last long ( 1 minute) but was very very painful, sometimes it was less painful but lasted longer.
Apart from that he is a happy boy.
The antibiotics didn't change anything ( amoxycillin) apart form the fact that it gave him yellow teeth :-(
I've started giving him tictox, but haven't seen any changes yet.
I bought Stephen Buhner's book but it's so complicated. What should I give him first? And for how long? How to be sure that the illness is gone for good?
Thank you very much for your help!

Thank you very very much JovaLyme!
I will test him for co-infections, check the Buhner core protocol and try to find another doctor
Do you know if there are people who have been cured for good?

Welcome to the forum.
Minimum treatment for acute infection is 6 weeks.
If symptoms persist - then longer is required.
I agree with Jova - find a different Dr. You’re in France? I have a few options that might work for you.
You can send me an email. Click on my name on the left and my email will come up.
There isn’t a reliable test to determine if treatment is sufficient, unfortunately.
Also I wouidnt focus on the IgM vs IgG. If there are positive lyme bands in one or the other.. or both - it indicates an infection.
But - testing isn’t necessary when there is a known tick bite with subsequent symptoms.
