This is accurate. I've treated infections- bartonella the most heavily- for 3.5 years now and never seen any improvement. Did herbals, multiple antibiotic therapies with the best doctors, multiple heavy biofilm protocols. Had die off quite a few times but never any improvement to follow. That's why me and my current doc believe autoimmune encephalitis may be the prevailing factor. The thing that has given me the most stability in my brain has been tending to mast cell activation. Doesn't cure anything, just prevents flares
Have you tried a strict diet...? For me, herxing has increased and symptoms are better being on a meat, vegetables, nuts and some fruit diet. Cutting out all grain, carbs, dairy, and any sugar foods. Some say they do it, but really not for that long, it's not easy, but I think it makes a difference treating bartonella. Hell all infections of the body, whether it's cancer or whatever...
I think there's something to what Georgian Hunter said, as eating more vegetables can raise immune system, and possibly eat away at the biofilms, along with lowering biofilms being no sugar, allowing them to suffer. I think they say biofilms are made of some form of minerals, but we know bacteria feeds on sugar. SIBO may also play a role keeping bartonella resilient, as what Goergia Hunter also hinted to, not sure, very complicated disease... For whatever reason ammonia is high when bartonella is around, is that from die off of bartonella or is it from SIBO?

Dr Rahbar’s special interest areas include dysbiosis, SIBO, leaky gut, and measures that help these conditions. Like many other experts, he believes that GI integrity is crucial to the treatment of Lyme.
So what Dr Farshid Rahbar is saying, healing your gut, may help you reach remission quicker. I think healing your gut probably involves eating a strict diet, no sugar and carbs, just meat and vegetables, and taking a high dosage of probiotic pills. Probably worth a try listening to his podcast!

You may have another coinfection in there involved still keeping bartonella resistant. Or it may just be the bartonella persister cells. I suspect for some patients with bartonella, like this patient Dr. H talked about
, she didn't respond to any antibiotics until she tried pyrazinamide, a drug that was used to kill tuberculosis persister cells.
https://youtu.be/bzu0weofvm8?t=5979What's interesting is pyrazinamide didn't work in vitro, but ended up working in vivo against tuberculosis persister cells, goes to show what goes on in the body is different than the petri dish.
Aerose91 are you still herxing a lot when treating bartonella with antibiotics or you just plateau? If you plateaud, I suspect another coinfection may be in the picture. When I finally knocked back babesia, herxing has become very very very severe for me. And that's when bartonella popped up. For some, they're dealing with babesia and bartonella at the same time like Girlie, it becomes a game of whack-a-mole.
What made me herx very severly is adding in Gaia oregano oil with bactrim and omnicef, herxing was so severe I had to get off this combo after a week. But Dr. H from New York said he's had success using oregano as a persister killer/biofilm buster with his patients for bartonella.
For me, I can't even tolerate 3 antibiotics at once or even stevia or oregano as a biofilm buster... When I did stevia with iodine I started having psychosis paranoia symptoms, similar to what lyme patients have when using disulfiram, I have to go low and slow for me right now to treat bartonella. I was also getting some neuropathy in my head, hands and wrists, down to my feet because of so much die off.
It's tough dealing with bartonella symptoms, for me Babesia symptoms were mild compared to this coinfection. I could deal with Borrelia and Babesia symptoms mentally, bartonella on the other hand could cause anyone to have a nervous breakdown.
Aerose91 keep trying new things, give the no carb/no sugar diet a try with just meat and vegetables with maybe two bartonella antibiotics, see where it gets you. Stay strong! Have you tried Omincef, I think this is one antibiotic that isn't really talked about
much for Bartonella. Some Lyme Literate Doctors use it for Bartonella, while most do not. My LLMD in Michigan didn't really treat my Babesia that great, but I think this bactrim/omnicef combo he uses is pretty potent for bartonella.
But hey, I'm just giving you ideas, you may have already heard this all and you're probably a lot more experienced treating Bartonella than me... I'm still dealing with this sinister bacteria.
