Herx Reactions

I know you have a herx reaction when starting a new antibiotic or increasing the dose, but can you have another herx reaction say after a month or two even while staying on the same antibiotic and not increasing the dose?

Hi Girlie, even shortness of breath returning and expanding blotchy rash of stomach? They can return?

Okay as long as it is just a herx reaction and not the bacteria/co-infections multiplying and/or becoming stronger.

With certain drugs, I got a delayed herx days to weeks later. This happened especially with valproate and disulfiram, and to some degree with malarone. These drugs have a long half life and slow elimination, and can remain in your body for weeks.

With most antibiotics, eg minocycline or cefdinir, I got a herx within 24 hours.

With minocycline, yes, the herx is with a day or so. This is only if there are active bacteria. Minocycline doesn't do much to the dormant persisters.

It's for my mom. She has been on this full dose for 2 1/2 months, had herx reactions while working way up to the full dose and then again the other day. So why can someone have multiple herxes spaced apart even when the dose hasn't been changed or anything added?

Good, a relief to hear that the herbals are still killing off the bacteria.
