Can people with Lyme ever get better even with mold toxin binders, if they are continually exposed to a moldy environment?
You can not get better in a moldy environment if you're sick from mold as well. The first step in the Shoemaker protocol (which many mold doctors use) is to remove from exposure. Mold illness, like Lyme, is unfortunately very prevalent since a quarter of the population lack the gene that recognize mold as a foreign substance, and half the buildings in the US have water damage.
The only way to get better is either to remediate or move. There is something called an ERMI test that is used to determine levels of mold in your home. Taking binders is very important especially if you're constantly being exposed. I'm still taking binders and I'm out of my house a year. My doctor used Real Time Laboratories to determine my levels of mycotoxins (there were four different ones). There are also blood tests from standard labs that measure certain markers to see if you are indeed sick from mold as well. Hope this helps.
