Health Update

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to posted an update. It has now been 10 months since I have gone off abx and 8 months since I have returned to work, and now 3 months since I have gotten married to the love of my life. I am so thankful for where I am at now considering I was bedbound and thinking I just developed a perpetual case of CFS forever back in Dec 2017 after an acute illness following an oversseas trip to now resuming almost all of my activities I used to do pre-sickness: this includes working a full-day (8 hrs) at work, running errands, preparing food at home, going out to hang out with friends on the weekends (even late at night), "light" exercise, attending church services, and driving long distances.

With that said, I am still struggling with some residual symptoms with exertion. They are not debilitating but nagging and occurs maybe a couple times a week for an hour or two. They include light fatigue, bodyaches, and general malaise which makes me feel bad enough to distract me from whatever I am doing...but at the same time everyone around me can't really tell that I'm not feeling too well. And usually it subsides in an hour or two so I just ride it out until it goes away. It does seem like it's happening a little less frequently than months ago and its very gradually happening less and less but I certainly don't want to just wait around for a remission to happen either? Currently I am tapering off of all my meds except for quercetin and curcumin to control MCAS (all my mast cell markers now show normal) along with some vitamins (C and D) and LDN. So to put a percentage on my recovery, I would say I am now at 97%. In order to get that last 3%, is it something you just need to wait a year or two for your immune system and body to just rebound or do you continue to treat at a low-grade level with maintenance-level herbal therapy or something else?

For those who are still treating, you CAN and WILL get better. There are so many different therapies out there, I think the key is to find the one that is right for you, finding a good LLMD, and being consistent and positive-minded about it. It will be difficult with many ups and downs but it is most certainly possible.

I’m so happy for you. That’s wonderful to hear how you have been recovering. If it were me, I would be concerned about residual symptoms and want to do something. Herbs like Japanese knotweed and cat’s claw can be taken for life, accidentally to Buhner. Did your LLMD suggest doing anything?

One thing is for sure - you want to support your immune system, detox organs, and gut ongoing. It seems as if those are functioning, things can hum along just fine. If they falter due to acute illness, stress, or toxins, that’s when relapses happen.
