I just did the mymycolab test - serum igg/ige response to many molds. I don’t currently have exposure but the belief of some is you can’t clear mycotoxins. This doctor believes you need antifungal (itraconazole). Does not use CSM because it binds good stuff too. So I’ll be taking itraconazole if I have positive test.

k07,
Hey! Always interested in what you have to say. I had never heard of this lab, so I looked it up. I’m wary of this after reading their site. This is an antibody test for mycotoxins as opposed to mold antibodies. They state mold antibody tests won’t identify WHEN you were exposed, as you will always have the antibodies. Yet, they don’t apply the same logic to antibodies to mycotoxins. IMO, unless you have lived in a plastic bubble your entire life, you have been exposed to both molds and their mycotoxins and would have antibodies to what you were exposed to - assuming you have a functioning immune system capable of identifying these toxins and creating the antibodies.
Shoemaker seems to suggest that genetically susceptible people’s immune systems may fail to identify the toxins if those faulty genes have been activated (genomics).
Additionally, this lab states that urine mycotoxin testing is “useless,” because food contains mycotoxins. They also claim ochratoxin cannot be identified in urine in spite of other labs who do urine testing measuring it in urine. I would heartily argue that urine mycotoxin test is definitely not useless based on the 3 tests I have done in conjunction with ERMI testing.
This doc won’t prescribe CSM because it binds good things, too? Most any binder will bind certain good things depending on when it’s taken. CSM for mold is not meant to be taken indefinitely. I would dare say that 30 days of CSM at full dose could remove a lot of toxins draining the body.
Something is amiss here.
Anti-fungals definitely helped me, though. I wish someone had prescribed them much sooner. Greg from biotoxin journey also commented that he was helped by antifungals. Shoemaker, of course, disagrees with using antifungals.
Doctors and their opinions. They can’t all be right if they advocate opposite things. So frustrating.
