I guess loss of vision and cardiac arrhythmia that cause sudden death along with a laundry list of side effects aren’t considered serious to some.

I PREFER not to gamble with my eyesight and heart per my physicians advice . Nothing political about that .End of story!

Ah I see you finally figured out how to reply without creating a whole new thread.

Everything has a side effect. Remdesivir as someone else pointed out has a whole laundry list of POSSIBLE side effects. That doesn’t make it dangerous. By this logic taking a drive in a car to get an ice cream is “gambling”, to use your terminology. That drive could kill you! The ice cream could give you diabetes! What they’ve done is take a perfectly safe drug, highlight a couple of extremely rare side effects, and convince people it’s dangerous for political purposes. The stuff is used like candy in India to prevent malaria. Millions of people use it in the US for lupus and Sjogrens, myself included. The drug has been studied and used extensively for 50 years, it’s very safe

Blueize - I'm with you on worrying about side effects, and also avoid drugs whenever I can. I feel like with so much wrong with me, it's hard to take something that could destabilize me further, even if others find it helpful and benign.

FeelingLeftOutGal - We've all been there, and I'm sorry that you're in a crummy place. Even without chronic illness, a lot of people are struggling! I hope that tomorrow is a better day for you.

I was worried about the immunosuppressive effect of hydroxychloroquine, so I took atovaquone instead. It worked fine for treating covid.

It's unfortunate that this has become a political issue.

Interesting...I’m wondering if Malarone may be effective as well even though the strength of atovaquone is less.

Maybe find out what dose of mepron Quinn was taking - it may be lower than what is prescribed for Babesia.

I've heard someone mention Artemisinin for COVID. Anybody here think that could be effective?

Initially 2 spoonfuls a day, but later just once a day (750 mg). I took it for over a month because the virus has a tendency to relapse, but I was eventually able to stop taking it and the virus didn't come back.

My issue with malarone was that the proguanil lowered my folate and this resulted in too many side effects. I didn't have this problem with mepron.

Quin Thank you for that info. I didn’t know about the effects on folate with that drug. I was on it for quite some time. Is it possible to use a folate supplement while you are on it to prevent that from happening?
