CD-57

My LLMD always tested me . I am just curious what is considered normal range?
Mine has been all over the map.

from my reading on the subject, the interpretation depends on what it was before.

the story seems to be:
it is not low in all Lyme patients ( in fact some studies show it can be v high in some )

However, in those that it was low in to begin with in their illness - it seems to be quite a good way to track recovery.
ie - as the patient recovers the CD57+ count tends to go up

mine was tested before i made any major improvements and was around 1/10th of the average at that time - but i have not yet tested it since

I have also seen mention of the % of the total being more definitive than the absolute count
( horowitz in his book - "How can i get better" - I think)

Not sure. Just asked doc to clarify. It just says within normal range. The number is 0.168x10^9/L.

As long as this means good news then I’m happy. I’m hoping it means that it will continue to improve and symptoms die off slowly.

mine looked like this :

"5 NK cells CD56+ CD3- (%) - 5,79 % 6,00 - 29,00 <* ........ ]
5 NK cells CD56+ CD3- (absolute) 118 /ul 60 - 700 [ *....... ]
5 CD57+ NK-cells (%) 24,14 % 2,00 - 77,00 [ ..*..... ]
5 CD57+ NK-cells (absolute) - 28 /ul 100 - 360 <* ........ ]

The result of the CD57-cell count indicates chronic
immune-suppression, which can be caused by Borrelia
burgdorferi or other bacteria like Chlamydia pneumoniae or
Mycoplasma pneumoniae."

so the absolute count of CD57+ cells was low at 28 per microlitre
and the % of CD57+ cells as a proportion of all NK cells was 24% - so within range (however a very wider range of 2% to 77% is given so not sure how to interpret that)

That was in April last year before I started to make significant improvements.
I have had Lyme for at least 5 years now (positive IgG and IgM antibodies on the Tickplex test in Germany)
I also strongly suspect Bartonella based on symptom pattern and response to interventions

I also have positive tests for mycoplasma pneumoniae but do not know how much of a role it is playing in my illness.

I am making slow but steady progress on an expanded Buhner protocol based on his latest Lyme book.

I have also been taking antibiotics ( doxy, azithromycin, rifampin ) for some of that period and found some benefit - but the improvements started before the ABX and have continued since stopping due to liver issues.

Can you post exactly what the results show, including the ranges given?

Be aware different labs may have slightly different methods and/or their own reference ranges as a result.
the units of measure are also important
