Low ALP caused by lyme

I have low alp. How low is yours? Mine normalized once when I was on rifampin. I was only on it for maybe 6 wks and the bloodwork was about 3 wks after starting. I hope to try bart treatment again to see if it happens again.

Yes, rifampin is used for bart. It was the only time I ever took it. My ALP never normalized on other antibiotics. I was on a bunch of other detox supps as well, so that may have had something to do with it normalizing. I guess I won’t know till I try it again.

I think the lowest my ALP got was 25. Usually around 27. It has been that was for about 10 years.

I have a book called "Blood Chemistry and CBC Analysis" recommended by my LLPA. Regarding ALP it lists the following as possible reasons for low ALP:

Zinc deficiency
Hypothyroidism
Very low fat and low protein diets
Adrenal hypofunction
Pernicious anemia

I guess the infections could cause some of the above conditions that could then cause the low ALP?

Also, it says drugs that can cause low ALP are Estrogen and Estrogen in combination with androgens.

Yes, I’ve explored all reasons why ALP can be low. Doesn’t appear to be any of the above. Blood levels never went up when treating deficiencies and trialing naturethroid (for hypo). Looking forward to trying rifampin again so I can see if it was a fluke. If not, then I can be certain bart (or possibly brucella) are causing low ALP.

Fluke as is liver fluke?? Ha Intretesting I hv a liver cyst weight loss nausea piercing abdominal upper mid under diaphragm pain. Doc said can b liver fluke cyst form or echinnococcus (cattle pork tape worm) if I'm saying it correct I HV no other known liver problems and that rare hypophosphatasia bone and teeth thing I mentioned can cause very low ALP. If anyone has dental bones gums receding gums and low alp it's worth a check it a generic things. Between that and the bart/lyme idk what else is causing my dental problems and low alp

when looking into my own gut problems, one of the causative mechanisms I researched in some detail is the possibility of an acquired intestinal ALP deficiency from food pathogens exposure driving a kind of vicious circle of gut inflammation and dysregulation of the gut microbiome and immune system resulting in increased chronic illness.

i cannot say whether it was causative in my case - but it may well be a mechanism that exists in tandem with others in people with chronic Lyme etc
