I had cracking joints at least since age 4. I found out I had Lyme at age 47. I have not treated with abx and have not healed.
Ironically, I have not been able to crack many joints for the past 5 years or so, because the inflammation makes them too tight to crack. The inflammation is not visible, BTW.
When my joints were crackable, I would feel the need to crack them, especially fingers, knees, and ankles. When I would get up in the morning to go to the bathroom, I would slightly stretch my shoulders upward, and all kinds of stuff would crack. Cracking gave me temporary relief.
I wouldn’t say my joints actually hurt back then. They would feel “stuck” sometimes, especially my knees. I couldn’t wear heels above a certain height because my right ankle would seriously get stuck, and I would have to stop every couple of steps to crack it.
After I got sick, inflammation started and everything changed.
