Awesome information!! Thanks so much for sharing.
For those who see this, the title is about
MARCONS, but the information is highly valuable for anyone with mold exposure or with sinus issues.
k07,
Have you even seen this doc? He’s in Atlanta, too. I met one of the remediators who works with his patients. Unfortunately, that remediator would not follow my protocol and was inflexible. It was his way or the highway. He wanted to replace all the insulation in the attic to the tune of $10k.

k07,
Have you used any of his products for health or for mold control?

Wbf - no, have not tried his products. After reading the article I came away from it feeling like I should not treat marcons (even though my last test was positive). However i do have a lot of mucus (but it’s clear). I sometimes wake up choking and coughing on it. May try out the citri drops.

I’ve tried treating MARCoNS for sometime. I think the general attitude is leaning more towards not treating them. I did silver spray for like 8 months and added edta with it for another 3. No difference. I didn’t bother to retest.
My current doc doesn’t believe in treating them, just the fungal side of the test. Neil Nathan has a similar approach. You do hear of some people claiming improvements but I often wonder if it’s addressing something else or possibly placebo.

My feeling about
why Shoemaker believed MARCONS was important to address is because it was known to produce toxins internally that could trigger CIRS. Shoemaker’s whole focus on CIRS was that biotoxins could trigger this chronic inflammatory response in genetically susceptible people. He only only addressed pathogens that had identified biotoxins such us mold, borrelia, MARCONS, etc. He never said much about
coinfections like bartonella and babesia because he was not aware of any toxins produced by them. He solely focused on toxins produced by biological organisms.
I was only tested once for MARCONS - back in 2016. It was negative. The Lyme doctor I started seeing in 2017 mentioned testing again, but I declined. I seem to remember her thinking that almost everyone with mold has MARCONS.
I am living in a house that was remediated, but mold has come back and the house is getting much worse. I have been having weird feelings in my teeth, roof of mouth, back of throat and behind sinus cavity. I know it’s from the mold - either inflammation from inhalation or MCAS from inhalation.

This is the part of the subject article that I found very enlightening. When asked why MARCONS is associated with mold illness, Dr. D says:
“MARCoNS persists in people who have had a toxic mold exposure or are living in a moldy environment because the body’s immune reaction to the
molds causes a decrease in the IgG subclass antibodies
in the blood, and
17% of the population have a defect in the T-cell receptor site
that causes up to
9,000 times the inflammatory reaction to mold as a normal person
.
Once the mold
—mold is a superantigen because it can dock on the deformed T-cell receptor site—
docks on the T-cell receptor site, it deforms it so that many other antigens can dock on it too. This allows other antigens to also bind to it, such as bacteria, foods, and chemicals, explaining why many people with toxic mold exposure are
chemically sensitive
.”
Bold and underlined is my emphasis.

I don’t know where he got that information about
17% with a T-cell receptor defect and what follows that, but this is the first time I have heard this, unless I forgot. This explains also why mold and Lyme go hand in hand and why chemical and food sensitivities occur.
Surely more must be known about
this. Anyone know?

Yeah, the chemically sensitive comment caused me to perk up too.
I’ve treated marcons and retested neg. But at the time I was still going to our moldy lakehouse. When last tested I was positive but I think the biofilm portion was negative.
I do feel my chemical sensitivity may be somewhat better. I recently had to get a new car and it bothered me for a week with headache, facial numbness but then got better. It has been one year since I was at lakehouse. Christmas also usually bothers me quite a bit (artificial trees, etc).
BUT, I am also on LDN (before i got the car) so maybe (probably most likely) that is helping with immune regulation of T cells.

Wow very inetersting!
I tested for marcons but ended up with e coli diagnosis (it was part of the test) and treated with antibiotics.

My chemical sensitivities improved significantly after I started TUDCA Plus. Not completely gone, but I don’t get the pain and rage now.
My car was in the shop last week, and I was sent home in a brand new 2021 vehicle. It bothered me but I quickly recovered. I wouldn’t want to buy a brand new vehicle, though. Maybe 3 years old.

Looks like the key would be finding out how to knock those antigens off the T-cell receptors and how to repair the deformed T-cell receptors.

There’s also dental MARCONS that wasn’t discussed in that article. Greg of Biotoxin Journey had repeated treatments for nasal MARCONS and eventually had cavitation surgery. I think that resolved it, if I remember right.
I get strange feelings in my teeth and center of head that make me think I have either mercury or pathogens in my head or both. Even parasite herbs can make me feel weird in my head. I don’t like that.
