In my experience herbs didnt help pain. I even tried several herbal mixtures for pain and inflammation- all they did was drain my wallet. They might help if your a little sore, but actual pain? - nope.
Natural topical gels and creams like arnica montana and magnessium gel help a little, way more than any pain herbs. I would highly suggest these.
If you dont have sharp knife like pain- then the gently rolling on a tennis ball should help. Its basically a self massage which increases circulation helping the area heal. Some honest chiros and PTs actually suggest methods like this today.
If you have sharp pain radiating,or numbness then that can be nerve impingement:
1) Pain Radiating around the but/glutes and MAYBE the upper back of thigh is usually Peroformis syndrome which can be a nerve being pinched by the small Piriformis "but" muscle (one of several there, under the glute muscle).
2)Pain Radiating all the down the back of the leg to knee or even to the foot is usually the sciatic nerve being pinched in the lower back.
The above is what I learned from PT's and Drs..........and its also commonly mentioned on you tube by Drs and PTs.
You will improve but it takes time. Simple options:
1) wait for the infection to calm with herbal pain help (topical)
or
2) ALSO do detective work and figure out exactly where its coming from like I mentioned in the first comment to speed the process up. You need to know exactly whats hurting to fix it, the "but or knee" is not exact enough.
3)If its sharp pain:
A)seeing a pain / Ortho Dr would be wise. They usually order MRI's for this stuff though.Chiros will move body parts around while judging the "pain out put" via your facile expressions...and then make their best guess.
B) You tube has releaf suggestions for sciatica and pirifomis syndrome
I was in extreme pain for years, and I have higher pain threshold than average. Thought I had MS since I also had increasingly minimal range of motion. 90% better now. You will get better too, in time.
