My old symptoms I used to have before I hit remission with treatment such as pins and needles, burning sensations, muscle twitching and spasms, essentially neuropathy pains, have come back again after quite a while. Last time I felt this kind of pain was 2019.
I started treatment in January 2018 with an LLMD and was on many different courses of antibiotics for lyme and bartonella, wasn't until spring 2019 when I started treating babesia treatment along with lyme (Malarone in combination with antibiotics and Artemisia) that I started to see MAJOR improvements, so much to the point I was completely pain free and had a normal life again. Thing is, around this same time (spring 2019) I also started doing a really strict low histamine diet with fresh food that I cook myself, I cut out A LOT of foods I used to eat, and Intermittent fasting daily. So I was questioning if lyme and co-infections were even my problem at all in the first place, and maybe that it was something else such as histamine intolerance or a mast cell problem. I've been trying to look for a doctor who is a specialist in mast cell/MCAS, but that's been very difficult in my country. I will be seeing a nutritionist about
this, perhaps they could help. Me and my LLMD decided to stop the lyme and babesia treatment in June 2020, at that point I had been treating babesia for over a year (May 2019 - June 2020) and treating lyme for 2 years and a half. (January 2018 - June 2020) because I was symptom free for quite a while.
I still follow the very strict diet today, and the daily Intermittent fasting, have been doing this since 2019. And I thought that because of me doing this is the reason I've improved so much, but then come last weekend and the old neuro pain symptoms I haven't had in so long are back again. I'm trying to rationalize this by thinking maybe I'm just having some sort of pain flare up that will eventually pass, maybe I'm deficient in some vitamins or minerals because of my strict diet. But I also consider that lyme & co has relapsed for me, now I'm just wondering what my course of action should be.
Should I contact my LLMD and tell them that I've relapsed in symptoms, and ask about
going back on treatment? Does treatment even work again when going back on it for a second time after being off it for a while?
