I don’t ascribe to that theory, as it hasn’t seemed to apply to me, personally. I have had colds since being chronically sick with Lyme. To me, it feels like it depletes my immune system further.
I suppose if you had a cold once a year before getting sick and then didn’t have one for years and suddenly got a cold again, then it probably indicates something has changed in your immune system. I don’t know for sure what exactly changes when that happens.
If you want to know the current state of your immune system, get your immunoglobulins and subclasses checked along with CD57 and titers for things like mycoplasma and chlamydia pneumonia and some herpes viruses.
