Herx or flare

So I started methylene blue and roxithromycin this past weekend. I was already feeling a bit tired because I came off my previous antibiotics that were making me feel better to try this protocol. I’ve been on methylene blue before with no luck but sometimes I circle back to things and they help the second time. Anyways, I have been completely exhausted for the past couple days. Fatigue is one of my normal symptoms but I am extremely fatigued and I can’t tell if that’s a herx or not?

are you taking it for suspected Bartonella - or do you maybe have a confirmed Bartonella infection?

how much are you taking - from what i have read - there are two dosing strategies

1- a kind of supportive dosing strategy - eg when given in small doses ( 50-100 mg/day) alongside other abx - particularly Dapsone ( a la Horowitz ) here the goal is to protect hemoglobin in red blood cells from oxidation, which is a known side effect of dapsone - but MB has also been found to be active against Bart persisters and antibiotic in its own right - so presumably is having som additive effect in these multi-ABX regimes. it also has a long history of use at these doses for CNS inflammation - eg in sanitoriums decades ago. i would expect these doses to be easily tolerated - based on their previous use.

2- as a primary anti-biotic / anti-microbial - as in higher doses ( maybe in the region of 10x the above ) it has a history of being used at these doses for malaria in the past and is found to be a very good agent for killing Bart persisters in vitro - according to Zhang et al recent studies. i would expect this later type of dosing to be much more likely to produce some kind of herx like reaction

please do share more of your experiences with it as i regard this as one of the more promising Bartonella treatments

No - I think because MB is a more recent treatment and I pretty much finished my protocols in 2019 and have since been on maintenance - taking abx 4 days per month.
